Geeta Yadav and Madhu Sidar from Chhattisgarh showcased exceptional talent and played a crucial role in the Indian team’s victory at the Junior Women’s Hockey Asia Cup held in Moki, China. Both players, who are training at the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare’s residential hockey academy at the State Sports Training Centre in Bahatrai, Bilaspur, displayed impressive form throughout the tournament, scoring four goals each. Their performance has brought glory to both the Bilaspur Residential Hockey Academy and the state of Chhattisgarh on the international stage.
The duo consistently made their mark during the Indian team’s matches in the tournament. In the match against South Korea, Madhu Sidar contributed to India’s win by scoring a goal. Subsequently, India recorded a resounding 11-1 victory over Malaysia, with Geeta Yadav scoring two goals.
The stellar performance of Chhattisgarh’s two daughters continued in the match between India and Pakistan. India defeated Pakistan 19-0; in this game, Geeta Yadav and Madhu Sidar bolstered the Indian attack by scoring two goals each. Across the competition, both players netted four goals apiece.
Ms. Akanksha Shiksha Khalkho, Director of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, met the players today to congratulate and encourage them for their outstanding performance. She remarked that Geeta Yadav and Madhu Sidar have enhanced Chhattisgarh’s prestige on the international stage through their sporting prowess.
