- Suggestions from cow protectors to improve animal protection and treatment system

Deputy Chief Minister and Kawardha MLA Mr. Vijay Sharma held a meeting with cow protectors and related officials in the meeting hall of Kabirdham District Office today and discussed in detail the rescue and treatment of stray animals, sick and injured animals in the district, and providing them with a proper shelter. He inquired from the cow protectors about the problems they face during their work and also took necessary suggestions for better protection and treatment of the animals. Present at the meeting were Chairman of the Cow Service Commission Mr. Visheshwar Patel, District Panchayat President Mr. Ishwari Sahu, Vice President Mr. Kailash Chandravanshi, Collector Mrs. Tulika Prajapati, Superintendent of Police Mr. Jitendra Kumar Yadav, District Panchayat CEO Mr. Abhishek Agarwal, Additional Collector Mr. Narendra Paikra, cow protectors Mr. Nilesh Soni, Mr. Sanskar Dubey, Mr. Tarun Sahu, Mr. Ankush Vishwakarma, Anmol Thakur, Mr. Vedic Mishra, Mr. Neeraj Thakur, Mr. Amit Chandravanshi, along with public representatives and cow protectors.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that Gau Sewaks are engaged day and night in serving sick and injured animals. With full hard work, dedication and service spirit, they rescue animals found injured on the road and take them to the veterinary hospital for treatment. Praising this service work being done by Gau Sewaks, he said that their efforts are important for the service and protection of animals. While instructing the officials, he said that whenever Gau Sewaks are involved in any service work or work related to the rescue of injured animals, the communication system should be improved. Every possible effort should be made to solve their problems.

In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma took information about the doctors, assistant doctors and other available human resources of the Animal Husbandry Department and the departmental setup. He also took information about the places of posting of the doctors, which doctors are working in which areas and at which places medical services are required. He directed to organize a meeting of all the doctors and prepare the necessary action plan to make the treatment and rescue system of animals in the district more effective. He said that adequate availability of doctors should be ensured in places where there is a greater need for animal treatment, so that sick and injured animals can get timely treatment. He asked the doctors to work with a spirit of service, zeal and hard work.
- Instructions for operating animal rescue vehicles 24 hours a day
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma also inquired about the animal rescue vehicles available in the district. He directed that necessary arrangements be made to ensure 24-hour operation of the animal rescue vehicles, so that rescue teams can reach the scene immediately upon receiving information about injured or sick animals in road accidents. He also directed that responsibility and communication systems be streamlined for this purpose.
- Discussion on arrangements for treatment and rest of animals in a large area
The meeting also discussed the possibilities of shifting the veterinary hospital to the Golden Jubilee complex after inspecting it. Deputy Chief Minister Sharma asked cow protectors, officials and public representatives to inspect the complex and provide information about the work required for shifting the veterinary hospital there. He said that better arrangements can be developed for the treatment, care and rest of the animals in a bigger and organized place. He said that such a system should be prepared where sick and injured animals can be provided with treatment along with a safe place, sufficient open area and necessary facilities. This will help in taking forward the work of protection and service of other animals including mother cow in a systematic manner.
- Motivate farmers to donate more and more para
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma also discussed the issue of providing adequate fodder for animals in the meeting. He asked them to contact farmers in nearby villages and motivate them to donate more straw. He said that instead of burning the straw available as crop residue, farmers should donate it for cattle. This will not only ensure the availability of fodder for animals but will also help in environmental protection. He asked cow protectors and concerned people to make farmers aware about straw donation in their respective areas through videos and other publicity mediums.
- Suggestion for barricading at accident prone places
The meeting also discussed the need to identify accident-prone areas and high-turning areas to prevent accidents caused by animals on the road. It was suggested that barricades or other safety measures be installed at such locations, as needed, to prevent accidents caused by animals on the road. It was also suggested that drivers be made aware of the need to exercise caution at such locations.
