 Entries invited for ‘Chendru’ State Rural Tourism Award, applications can be made till October 10

To expand tourism potential in Chhattisgarh’s rural areas and encourage individuals and organizations achieving outstanding work in sustainable rural tourism, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board has invited entries for the “Chendru State Rural Tourism Award-2026.” The deadline for applications for the award is October 10, 2026. The selected individual or organization will receive a cash prize of one lakh rupees and a citation.

This award was established to recognize and honor significant and dedicated contributions to rural tourism in the state. Through this award, rural tourism will be linked to local employment and livelihoods, as well as homestays, local culture and traditions, preservation of natural and cultural heritage, and community-based tourism activities.

  • ‘Honor will be given in Rajyotsav and State Foundation Day decoration ceremony’

The “Chendru State Rural Tourism Award” will be presented annually at the Rajyotsav and State Foundation Day Investiture Ceremonies. The award recognizes long-term and dedicated contributions to the field of rural tourism. This honor will be presented to an individual or organization only once in their lifetime.

  • ‘Works will be evaluated in six major themes’

The awards will evaluate rural tourism-related activities under six key themes: ethnic tourism, eco-tourism, religious tourism, heritage tourism, adventure tourism, and medical and wellness tourism.

During the evaluation, special consideration will be given to aspects such as the development of rural tourism activities, the promotion of homestays, the creation of local employment and livelihood opportunities, the unique experiences offered to tourists, the preservation of tourist sites and heritage sites, and the involvement of the local community. The applicant’s past and current actions and their impact will also be assessed, along with changes in tourist numbers in the area.

  • Both individuals and organizations can apply.

Eligible individuals or organizations working in the field of rural tourism in Chhattisgarh may apply for the award. The selection process will prioritize long-term service, significant achievements, and dedicated efforts in the field of rural tourism.

  • Details of work and achievements must be submitted along with the application.

Applicants must submit a complete introduction, address, and photograph in the prescribed format, along with a certificate of local residence in Chhattisgarh and a verified photocopy of their Aadhaar card. A detailed description of their work in the field of rural tourism, information about other honors received, and, if available, verified copies of published material and news published in newspapers and magazines may also be attached. The applicant must also provide written consent to accept the award.

  • A six-member jury will judge the entries.

Entries received for the award will be evaluated by a designated jury. The jury’s proceedings will be confidential, and no appeals regarding the selection will be entertained. Applications by government servants will require prior approval from the General Administration Department.

  • Applications must be sent by registered post by October 10.

Completed applications for the award in the prescribed format must be sent by registered post to the Managing Director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, 2nd Floor, Udyog Bhawan, Ring Road No. 1, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – 492001. Applications must reach the designated address by October 10, 2026. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.
