Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav congratulated and wished the Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation for reaching a profitable position. He said that the interest shown by farmers in the Kusum scheme will help make the state a model state in the field of renewable energy.
Before the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was presented a dividend cheque of ₹4.39 crore by New and Renewable Energy Minister Mr. Rakesh Shukla. In an informal discussion, Minister Mr. Shukla stated that as a result of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s policies, the Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam has become profitable in the last two years. This is the first time the corporation has made a profit since its inception in 1982. Minister Mr. Shukla added that as a result of large numbers of farmers participating in the Kusum scheme, the corporation has earned ₹41 crore in three years. The government’s share of the corporation’s profits is 20 percent, of which cheques for 10 percent, or ₹4.39 crore, are being handed over now. The remaining 10 percent will be handed over some time later.
