Governor Shri Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai felicitated teachers who made outstanding contributions in the field of education and extended their congratulations and best wishes to them at the state-level Teachers’ Award ceremony held at Chhattisgarh Mandapam in Lok Bhavan on the occasion of Teachers’ Day today. 63 outstanding teachers of the state were honoured with the Governor’s Award for the year 2025-26 at the ceremony. State Teachers’ Award Memorial Awards were given to four outstanding teachers. On this occasion, School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav also announced the names of 64 teachers selected for the State Teachers’ Award for the year 2026-27.
While extending his greetings on Teachers’ Day, Governor Shri Ramen Deka, the chief guest of the ceremony, said that in this rapidly changing world, the role of education and teachers is also expanding. In this era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), it is essential for teachers and students to be familiar with new technologies, but even more important is the judicious, responsible, and human values-based use of technology. He said that AI should be our assistant, not our controller. Teachers should inspire students to use technology to acquire knowledge, innovate, and enhance their personalities.
Governor Mr. Deka said that today, through Google and digital technology, we have access to a vast world of information. Despite this, we must ensure that excessive dependence on technology does not impede independent thinking and intellectual development. Serious discussions are underway in many countries around the world regarding students’ use of smartphones and social media. Technology can provide us with information, but values, compassion, discipline, inspiration, and the right direction in life come only from a teacher. Therefore, in these changing times, the role of a teacher has become more important than ever.
He stated that the National Education Policy 2020 has laid an important foundation for making the country’s education system more practical, skill-based, multilingual, and student-centered. The future will see significant changes in the nature of education. In such a situation, teachers will need to continuously update their knowledge and skills. They will also need to identify students’ interests and talents and guide them in choosing the right subjects and career paths. Counseling students is also an important part of a teacher’s role.
The Governor said that teaching is not just a job, but a noble and dignified responsibility. Teachers educate students not only through their knowledge but also through their conduct. Children view their teachers as role models, so teachers should discharge their responsibilities with complete devotion, sensitivity, and dedication. The teacher’s top priority should be how each student progresses, how their talents flourish, and how their future is improved.
Sharing memories of his student days, Governor Mr. Deka said that Teachers’ Day reminds him of his journey from primary education to higher education. In the past, there was a deep bond of respect, intimacy, and trust between teachers and students. Despite limited resources, teachers shaped students’ futures with complete dedication and commitment. This dedication and intimacy is the true power of the teacher-student relationship.
He said that the relationship between a teacher and a student is not limited to the classroom. A teacher plays a vital role in shaping a student’s personality, thinking, and future. Teachers should recognize their students’ interests, abilities, and special talents and inspire them to choose the right path in life.
Describing transfers in government service as a normal administrative process, Governor Mr. Deka said that wherever responsibility is offered, one should readily accept it and work with full responsibility and dedication. Congratulating all the honored teachers, he expressed confidence that the state’s teachers will, with their knowledge, experience, and dedication, take Chhattisgarh’s new generation to new heights.

Presiding over the ceremony, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai extended his best wishes to all teachers on Teachers’ Day and congratulated the teachers who received the state-level honor. He said that this honor recognizes teachers’ dedication, hard work, innovation, and outstanding work in building the future of students. Teachers are truly the builders of the nation and the new generation.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai paid tribute to the great educationist and former President Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, remembering his memory. He said that India’s educational tradition has been extremely rich and glorious. The purpose of education here has never been merely to obtain a degree or a job, but rather to develop a knowledgeable, cultured, capable, and responsible citizen. Only such education prepares individuals to make meaningful contributions to the development of society and the nation.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working to improve the quality of education and provide better educational opportunities to every child. In the last two and a half years, many important decisions have been taken to strengthen the education system. After rationalization, not a single school in the state is now without a teacher. Implementing the National Education Policy-2020, special attention is being paid to linking education with values, skills, and employment.
He said that keeping in mind the geographical, social, and linguistic diversity of Chhattisgarh, local needs are also being given importance in the education system. In the Bastar region, an initiative has been taken to provide primary education to children through their local dialect. This is making the learning process more comfortable and effective for children. By promoting parent-teacher meetings in government schools, parents are also being actively involved in their children’s education and school activities.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that 341 schools in the state have been selected under the PM Shri scheme. These schools are being developed as centers of modern facilities, improved educational environment, and quality education. Additionally, 150 schools are being established in the name of Swami Vivekananda. The government has also prioritized the long-pending promotions of teachers.
The Chief Minister said that providing equal opportunities for quality education to children in remote and vulnerable areas like Bastar is a priority of the government. To this end, Education Cities are being developed in Orchha and Jagargunda. These efforts will provide children from remote areas with a better educational environment and new opportunities for advancement.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that by the year 2047, our goal is to build a developed Chhattisgarh along with a developed India. The role of the Education Department and our teachers will be paramount in achieving this goal. The children to whom teachers are imparting knowledge, values, and skills today will be the ones who will lead the development of Chhattisgarh and the country in the years to come. Therefore, a teacher’s contribution is not limited to a single student; rather, their impact extends to future generations and the entire society.
- Fostering innovation through AI-based smart schools: School Education Minister
School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, the special guest of the ceremony, extended his greetings on Teachers’ Day, stating that the state government is continuously promoting the use of modern technology and innovation in education. AI-based smart schools are being developed in the state. Additionally, various activities are being encouraged to inculcate good values, creativity, and a sense of social responsibility in students. He added that continuous efforts are being made to make Chhattisgarh one of the leading states in educational innovation.
On this occasion, School Education Minister Shri Yadav announced the names of 64 teachers selected for the State Teachers’ Award for the coming year 2026-27 and wished them well.
- State Teachers’ Honor Memorial Award to four teachers
Four outstanding teachers were honored with the Vishisht Rajya Shikshak Samman Memorial Award at the state-level function. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Prajapati of Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district was awarded the Dr. Padumlal Punnalal Bakshi Memorial Award, Mr. Kamta Prasad Jaiswal of Korba district was awarded the Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra Memorial Award, Mrs. Pragya Singh of Durg district was awarded the Dr. Mukutdhar Pandey Memorial Award and Mrs. Priyanka Goswami of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district was awarded the Shri Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh Memorial Award.
In addition, a total of 63 outstanding teachers from the Headmaster, Lecturer, Lecturer, LB, Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Assistant Teacher LB cadres were honored with the Governor’s Award. Praising the contributions and innovative efforts of the honored teachers, the guests called upon them to continue contributing to further improving the state’s education system.
At the ceremony, Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of the School Education Department, delivered the welcome address. Director of Public Education, Mr. Rituraj Raghuvanshi, proposed a vote of thanks.
Higher Education Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma, Secretary to the Governor Dr. C.R. Prasanna, Special Secretary of School Education Department Shri Santosh Dewangan along with departmental officers, teachers from various districts of the state and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
