- Governor presented “Service Awards” on World Red Cross Day
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that serving the poor and needy is a powerful means of serving God. Serving humanity is serving God. We should always help the poor, deprived, and needy to the best of our ability and capabilities. He stated that the scope of service is vast. Red Cross members should travel to remote, rural areas to meet the needy, observe and understand their problems closely, and make sincere efforts to find solutions as far as possible. Each member should connect at least five individuals with the Red Cross. Governor Shri Patel called for inspiring people with the principles, objectives, and work of the Red Cross. He appealed to youth to draw inspiration from the Red Cross’s sensitive dedication to suffering humanity, participate in the upliftment of the deprived, and contribute to nation-building.
Governor Shri Patel was addressing the “Seva Samman Samaroh” organized on World Red Cross Day on Friday. He paid tribute to the portrait of Red Cross founder Henry Dunot on his birth anniversary. He honored dedicated workers, volunteers and social service organizations. He congratulated and wished them for their efforts and service to humanity. He described all the honored people as true heroes and source of inspiration for the entire society. The program was organized by Madhya Pradesh State Red Cross Society at Madhya Pradesh Institute of Science and Technology (MAPCOST) campus.
- The teachings of the Red Cross should be reflected in actions as well.
Governor Shri Patel said that World Red Cross Day is not just a one-day celebration, but a reminder of the ever-flowing flow of humanity, service, compassion, and dedication. The pledge taken after witnessing suffering on the battlefield has today become a global movement to serve suffering humanity, which teaches us that “service is the highest religion.” He said that the seven core principles of the Red Cross—humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality—are true guides for life. Following them 365 days a year, in thought, word, and deed, is an effective way to fulfill the resolve to build an inclusive society. Governor Shri Patel said that the teachings of the Red Cross should not be limited to words; they should also be reflected in our actions. To achieve this, society must become more sensitive. Respected individuals should inspire future generations by providing leadership to the Red Cross through their values of loyalty, dedication, and service. With a resolve to serve humanity, wholeheartedly support the suffering and the deprived, supporting them with their minds, time, and resources. Strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation and sensitivity in society.
