- Nearly three thousand hand pumps were repaired through a special maintenance campaign.
To provide clean drinking water in rural areas, the Public Health Engineering Department, Jagdalpur Division, is conducting an intensive chlorination campaign in Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma districts. Under this campaign, which began before the rainy season, installed hand pumps and tap water schemes are being chlorinated extensively.
- Active participation of Mahila Jal Vahini

During the campaign, field staff are disinfecting drinking water sources in all villages in the affected areas. Local community participation is also ensured. Since most women are involved in water management, the active participation of the Mahila Jal Vahini is evident, reflecting the growing awareness of safe drinking water and health in rural areas.

Mr. Kailash Mandriya, Superintending Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, stated that under this campaign, which will run until June 30th, the target has been set to chlorinate more than 28,500 hand pumps and more than 1,000 tap water schemes in Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma districts. He stated that continuous work is underway to achieve this target within the deadline. Additionally, the cleanliness of the water supply tanks of the water supply schemes is also being ensured.
- More than 5,000 riser pipes were replaced.

Superintending Engineer Mr. Mandriya stated that along with the chlorination campaign, the maintenance status of hand pumps is also being monitored. Under the special maintenance campaign launched in April, approximately 3,000 hand pumps were repaired and over 5,600 riser pipes were replaced. Currently, more than 5,500 riser pipes and other necessary spare parts have been made available to the districts, so that hand pump repairs can continue as needed.
