- Scientific poultry farming provides farmers with an opportunity to earn additional income.
Kadaknath poultry farming is an excellent way to increase farmers’ income and alleviate malnutrition. Its black meat and eggs have high protein, iron, and medicinal properties, making it highly sought after and priced in the market. Under the sensitive initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and the guidance of Forest and District In-charge Minister Kedar Kashyap, efforts are being made at various levels to make farmers self-reliant and increase their income. In this direction, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Panarapara, Bijapur, is promoting Kadaknath farming. The center’s objective is to bring Kadaknath to every farmer’s home.
- Kadaknath breeds easily in local conditions.

Kadaknath is a unique indigenous poultry breed of Chhattisgarh. It is known for its black color, easy adaptation to local conditions, and quality meat. Raising it can provide farmers with an opportunity to generate additional and sustainable income alongside their farming.
- Kadaknath chicks are being given to farmers.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bijapur, is providing Kadaknath chicks to various farmers. Farmers are also being provided with information on chick care, proper feeding, housing, health management, and scientific rearing methods. Through this, farmers are learning the necessary techniques to achieve better production at lower costs.
- Scientific information provided through demonstrations

To disseminate improved Kadaknath farming techniques to farmers, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra has established two Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) and two On-Farm Trials (OFT). Through these, farmers are being provided with firsthand experience of Kadaknath’s scientific rearing, improved management, and production potential.
- Technical guidance is increasing farmers’ confidence
Technical guidance is provided periodically to farmers involved in Kadaknath farming. Emphasis is being placed on scientific poultry management, quality chick production, and improved health management. This is increasing farmers’ interest and confidence in Kadaknath farming.
- Steps towards self-reliant rural economy

The commitment to “Kadaknath in every farmer’s home” is an important initiative to strengthen the rural economy while providing farmers with a source of additional income. In the future, efforts will continue to expand this activity to more farmers and develop Kadaknath rearing as a profitable, sustainable, and farmer-centric livelihood model.
This initiative to promote Kadaknath rearing under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and guidance of Forest and District In-charge Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap is opening new avenues of self-reliance and prosperity for the farmers of Bijapur.
