- Document verification completed for the first Animal Medicine Sales Center (PAVK) in Dhamtari development block
Under the Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP) run by the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, important initiatives are being taken in the district to provide quality and affordable veterinary medicines to livestock farmers. In this sequence, the verification of documents of the application received for the establishment of Pashu Aushadhi Vikray Kendra (PAVK) has been completed.
In compliance with the instructions received from the Directorate of Veterinary Services, Chhattisgarh, Raipur, after the PAVK application received from Development Block Dhamtari was accepted on the portal, the necessary documents submitted to fulfill the eligibility of the application were verified by the Deputy Director, Veterinary Services, District Dhamtari on 6 August 2026. During this, PAVK applicant Mr. Devesh Kumar Sinha, Sinha Krishi Kendra (PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendra), Village Colliery, Development Block Dhamtari and Pharmacist Mr. Pratik Vatwani, Dhamtari were present.
It is noteworthy that this is the only application approved on the portal in Chhattisgarh to reach the document verification stage, giving the district a leading position in this initiative.
Once the PAVK becomes operational, livestock farmers in the Dhamtari Block area will have access to generic veterinary medicines locally at affordable and reasonable rates. This will help reduce the cost of animal treatment, ensure timely delivery of medicines, and protect the health of livestock. Furthermore, livestock farmers will be less likely to travel to remote areas for essential veterinary services and medicines.
Collector Mr. Abinash Mishra stated that providing better and accessible veterinary services to livestock farmers in the district is a priority for the district administration. With the opening of the veterinary medicine sales center, livestock farmers will have access to essential generic veterinary medicines locally at reasonable and affordable rates. This will facilitate timely treatment and reduce livestock farmers’ medical expenses. He emphasized that livestock is an important pillar of the rural economy and farmers’ income. Ensuring easy availability of medicines for improved livestock health is a useful step towards strengthening the income and livelihood of livestock farmers. He directed the concerned department to expedite the operation of the center in accordance with the prescribed parameters, so that maximum livestock farmers can benefit from it.
This initiative is an important step towards making livestock health services more accessible, affordable, and effective in the district. It will also help in increasing awareness about animal health among livestock farmers and further strengthening livestock-based livelihoods.
