Madhya Pradesh is moving towards self-reliant farmers through ShriAnn: Agriculture Minister Shri Kanshana

  • Inauguration of Krishi Vigyan Mela under Shree Anna Millet Promotion and ATMA Scheme

Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Minister Mr. Edal Singh Kanshana said that millet is not just a crop, but a revolutionary step towards a healthy future and environmental protection. He said that what was once called a coarse grain, due to the efforts of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, is now being respected worldwide as “Shri Anna”. With Shri Anna, Madhya Pradesh is moving towards self-reliant farmers. Minister Mr. Kanshana was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Krishi Vigyan Mela under the Shri Anna Millet Promotion and ATMA Scheme at Dussehra Maidan, TT Nagar, Bhopal.

Agriculture Minister Shri Kanshana said that ShriAnn is rich in nutrients like iron, calcium, and fiber and is proving to be a strong support in our fight against malnutrition. Millet also produces better yields even in conditions of low water, low fertilizer, and adverse climates. This is not only conserving water but also increasing farmers’ income. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh is making steady progress in the agricultural sector.

Minister Shri Kanshana said that farmers are not only food providers but also the backbone of the country’s economy. The government’s priority is to encourage farmers to pursue scientific farming, lower costs, higher production, and higher income. He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural equipment and innovative technologies, saying this would save labor, increase production, and encourage youth to join farming.

Agriculture Minister Shri Kanshana urged farmers to take advantage of the advanced agricultural equipment and scientific advice on display. Cash prizes and certificates were distributed to outstanding farmers at the event. Agriculture Minister Shri Kanshana expressed confidence that this Krishi Vigyan and Millet Mela will bring positive changes in the lives of farmers and make the Farmer Welfare Year 2026 historic. He called for a pledge to promote Srianna. Adopting scientific farming will make farmers self-reliant and prosperous.

  • 9 farmers awarded for their outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture

Agriculture Minister Shri Kanshana presented Rs 25,000 and a certificate to Shri Jeevan Singh, a farmer from Junapani village, as the district-level best farmer award in the field of animal husbandry. Eight farmers were given Rs 10,000 each and certificates as block-level awards. These included Shri Kishan Singh from Dojayi village in the field of animal husbandry, Sunita Raikwar from Sevaniya Onkara village and Shri Harsh Dangi from Kolukhedi in the field of fish production, Shri Ram Mohan Meena from Bhaironpura village in horticulture, Shri Mahesh Meena from Mugalia Chhap village and Sangeeta Jatav from Jamusar Kala in agricultural engineering, Shri Ramesh Singh from Tila Khedi village and Shri Deepak Meena from Namdapura in the block-level awards for their commendable and outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture.

MLA Shri Bhagwandas Sabnani, District Panchayat Vice President Shri Mohan Singh Jat, District President Bairasia Shri Kuber Singh Gurjar along with public representatives, officers, scientists and a large number of farmers were present in the program.
