- State level launch of 9th National Nutrition Month from Indore
- Campaign will run till October 8
- Special campaign from Nutrition Fair to Children’s Body Measurement and Matri Vandana Yojana benefits
The 9th National Nutrition Month in the state was launched at the state level from Indore on Wednesday. With the theme ‘ Hami Anganwadi , Hamari Responsibility ‘ , this campaign, which will run till October 8 , will focus on increasing public participation in the nutrition and health of children , pregnant and lactating women. Women and Child Development Minister Ms. Nirmala Bhuria while launching the campaign said that healthy children are the strong foundation for the bright future of the region and the country. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. According to Mohan Yadav’s intention, nutrition needs to be made a collective responsibility of the society and not just a government program.
Minister Ms. Bhuria said that Anganwadi centers should be linked with parents , sarpanches , councilors , public representatives , self-help groups and social and cultural institutions. The activities of Anganwadi Centers can be made more effective with the active participation of the community. He also called upon the Anganwadi workers and assistants to experiment with local needs and share successful innovations through social media , so that other centers can also take inspiration from them. There will be special focus on prevention of malnutrition along with sensitizing pregnant and lactating mothers about nutritious food , hygiene and child care. The minister said that the department has made efforts to increase the availability of Anganwadi buildings , upgrade mini Anganwadis to main Anganwadi and take forward the process of pending promotion of employees. Along with the health and nutrition of children, attention is also being given to the facilities of Anganwadi workers and helpers.
- MoU with four institutions

MoUs were also signed with four organizations for cooperation in the fields of child health , nutrition and early education on the occasion of the launch of Poshan Month. Through the MoU with American India Foundation , AIIMS , IPE Global and Nai Disha Foundation , efforts will be made to strengthen the activities of child nutrition and health , early education and Anganwadi centers. Minister Ms. Bhuria said that the efforts of the government along with the partnership of social organizations and other organizations will give new strength to the nutrition and child development campaign.
Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Kavita Patidar said that the health of children and mothers will be given priority with the message of ‘ Our Anganwadi , Our Responsibility ‘ . He said that nutrition should not be limited to the provision of food , but equal attention should be paid to the quality of food and the nutrients present in it. He stressed the need to extend the benefits of various schemes including Nutrition Tracker , One Stop Center and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana to more and more eligible beneficiaries. Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat and MP Shri Shankar Lalwani were also present in the program.
- Emphasis on local grains and traditional cuisine
The Poshan Mela and Recipe Exhibition at Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium premises was the center of attraction on the launch of Poshan Month. Here take home ration ( THR), hot cooked food ( HCM), nutritious dishes prepared from local pulses , gram , groundnut , soya , milk and milk products , millets and seasonal vegetables were displayed. Through the ‘ Know Your Protein — Apne Protein ‘ campaign, families were informed about locally available sources of protein and the importance of a balanced diet.
Community participation in monitoring the quality , quantity and cleanliness of local and varied fresh breakfast and hot cooked meals will be ensured to children aged 3 to 6 years at Anganwadi Centers during the Nutrition Month. Weekly menu boards will also be installed at the centers so that the parents and the community can get information about the food being served to the children. Under the campaign, special activities will also be conducted to measure children’s body measurements , nutrition awareness , recipe display and maximum benefit of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana to deserving women.
