Through the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, solar energy is being used to power homes in the district. The objective of the scheme is to make consumers self-reliant in terms of electricity. Under the scheme, Mrs. Sonkunwar Dhruv, a resident of Meregaon, installed five kilowatt solar panels on the roof of her house. The electricity generated by the solar panels has now illuminated her home, providing relief from her electricity bills. Now, her electricity bill has become zero.
Mrs. Sonakunwar Dhruv explained that her home, being a large and joint family, had high electricity consumption, resulting in high bills. Upon learning about the PM Suryaghar Yojana, she decided to take advantage of the scheme and installed a 5-kilowatt solar panel on her rooftop. The cost was ₹297,000, of which ₹78,000 has been credited to her account as a central government subsidy. She explained that electricity generation on her rooftop through solar panels has saved her monthly electricity costs, and she no longer has to worry about electricity bills. She also supplies electricity as a producer. She appealed to the public to take advantage of the scheme, become self-sufficient in electricity by using solar energy, and contribute to environmental conservation. Mrs. Sonakunwar expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai for this important initiative.
It is noteworthy that under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, the government is encouraging urban and rural domestic electricity consumers to install rooftop solar plants on the roofs of their houses. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, 300 units of free electricity are being provided every month. The Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme reduces electricity bills. Self-reliance and new employment are also being created by producing electricity.
