Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is committed to achieving new dimensions in the field of renewable energy. However, the project has received a competitive rate of Rs 2.70 paise per unit which is the lowest rate in the country so far and lower than the previous national standard for projects of this category. A feature of the project is its innovative battery model in which it will be possible to use one battery 2 times a day. Along with this, inauguration of Neemuch and Shajapur solar parks is a historic achievement of Madhya Pradesh in this field. New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rakesh Shukla also addressed the program.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the Power Purchase Agreement program of the first-of-its-kind 440 MW Morena Solar Plus Storage Project in Bhopal. On this occasion, Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi said that this agreement and inauguration of 2 solar parks is a remarkable event in the field of renewable energy. This agreement continuously increases energy production and is a new achievement of Madhya Pradesh in this field after achieving self-sufficiency. The signing of the Power Purchase Agreement for the Morena Solar + Battery Energy Storage System project is a new dimension in India’s energy transformation journey, where special emphasis is being laid on renewable energy generation as well as energy storage and reliable power availability.

The project has received the most competitive rate in the country at ₹2.70 per unit so far, which is lower than the previous national benchmark for projects of this category. 16 reputed companies from home and abroad participated in the tender process of the project and this historic tariff was obtained as a result of competitive bidding which lasted for about 12 hours.

The biggest feature of the project is its innovative battery usage model, in which one battery will be used 2 times per day. This increased the productivity of battery assets and significantly reduced the cost of energy storage. Renewable energy is now becoming more affordable and commercially viable with battery energy storage.

  • Moving in the direction of assured supply from installed capacity

The region is no longer limited to increasing installed renewable energy capacity. Now special emphasis is being laid on ensuring reliable and assured power supply in the region. Energy storage is the mainstay of the state’s long-term energy strategy.

A record minimum rate of ₹2.40 per unit has been received in the tender for the 4,022 MW feeder solar power program in the state. Quality and reliable electricity will be available to the farmers during the day time and there will be a qualitative improvement in the rural living standards.

  • Targeting 20 thousand megawatts, the region is leading in the direction of becoming a green energy capital

At present, many projects of solar, wind, battery energy storage and pumped storage are in progress in various stages in the state.
