Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is committed to achieving new dimensions in the field of renewable energy. Muraina’s solar battery energy storage system project is groundbreaking. This is also a matter of congratulation for all the citizens of Madhya Pradesh, especially the residents of Chambal. However, the project has received a competitive rate of Rs 2.70 paise per unit which is the lowest rate in the country so far and lower than the previous national standard for projects of this category. A feature of the project is its innovative battery model in which it will be possible to use one battery 2 times a day. Along with this, inauguration of Neemuch and Shajapur solar parks is a historic achievement of Madhya Pradesh in this field. New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rakesh Shukla also addressed the program.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the Power Purchase Agreement program of the first-of-its-kind 440 MW Morena Solar Plus Storage Project in Bhopal. On this occasion, Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi said that this agreement and inauguration of 2 solar parks is a remarkable event in the field of renewable energy. This agreement continuously increases energy production and is a new achievement of Madhya Pradesh in this field after achieving self-sufficiency. New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rakesh Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Shri Neeraj Mandaloi, Additional Chief Secretary New and Renewable Energy Department Shri Manu Srivastava, MD M.Pr. Officials of the institute associated with the agreement concluded today along with Mr. Amit Tomar of Urja Vikas Nigam were present.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that life without electricity today cannot be imagined. Initiatives are being taken in the country to provide better benefits to citizens due to new scientific discoveries in all fields. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has fully cooperated in ending the 20-25 years old water sharing dispute between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Under his guidance, the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal inter-state river linking project was approved, in which Rajasthan will also benefit and a large area of 13 districts from Chambal and Malwa of Madhya Pradesh will get the benefit of prosperity. Similarly in the field of renewable energy, pumped storage, battery storage, coal, hydro along with solar energy are proving to be useful. The Morena solar energy storage project in Madhya Pradesh is a concrete example of realizing the new potential of energy generation in the current era.

Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Joshi said that Madhya Pradesh has done a wonderful job in the field of renewable energy. Union Minister Shri Joshi said that all the states are working in this field but the progress of Madhya Pradesh is the fastest. New renewable energy projects are being implemented. Along with clean energy production, these projects have also given new impetus to employment generation, infrastructure development and economic activities at the local level. Union Minister Shri Joshi said that Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are also making progress but the progress of Madhya Pradesh is the most unique.

Madhya Pradesh has today established its strong identity among the country’s leading renewable energy investment destinations. The state is no longer limited to large-scale renewable energy production, but is also playing a leading role in providing clean, reliable and affordable electricity through energy storage. Madhya Pradesh has become one of the leading states in the country to actively adopt energy storage-based renewable energy procurement models.
- About one gigawatt of clean energy dedicated to the nation
On Monday, 950 MW clean energy capacity was dedicated to the nation through 500 MW Neemuch and 450 MW Shajapur solar parks. This achievement is another important milestone in Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy journey, which began with the Rewa Solar Project.
Agar-Shajapur-Neemuch (ASN) solar project is supplying clean power to Indian Railways, while Rewa solar project is providing clean energy to Delhi Metro. The region has now become the leading state of innovation based renewable energy models in the country, continuously setting new dimensions in the field of renewable energy generation. These projects are developed by reputed project developers like NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, Tata Power and Vari Energies. Their successful establishment is the result of excellent coordination of developers, government, transmission agencies, financial institutions and local administration. Along with clean energy production, these projects have also given new impetus to employment generation, infrastructure development and economic activities at the local level.
- A new dimension in energy transformation journey is Muraina Solar + BESS project
The signing of the Power Purchase Agreement for the Morena Solar + Battery Energy Storage System project is a new dimension in India’s energy transformation journey, where special emphasis is being laid on renewable energy generation as well as energy storage and reliable power availability.
The project has received the most competitive rate in the country at ₹2.70 per unit so far, which is lower than the previous national benchmark for projects of this category. 16 reputed companies from home and abroad participated in the tender process of the project and this historic tariff was obtained as a result of competitive bidding which lasted for about 12 hours.
The biggest feature of the project is its innovative battery usage model, in which one battery will be used 2 times per day. This increased the productivity of battery assets and significantly reduced the cost of energy storage. Renewable energy is now becoming more affordable and commercially viable with battery energy storage.
- Moving in the direction of assured supply from installed capacity
The region is no longer limited to increasing installed renewable energy capacity. Now special emphasis is being laid on ensuring reliable and assured power supply in the region. Energy storage is the mainstay of the state’s long-term energy strategy.
Chief Minister Dr. In line with the vision announced by Yadav at the World Economic Forum, Davos, the state has floated tenders for 4-hour and 6-hour energy storage-based renewable energy projects, which have received enthusiastic response from the industry. Along with this, the state has also moved towards India’s leading 24×7 round-the-clock renewable energy project, the pre-bid meeting of which will be held on July 1, 2026.
- Simplified procedures, favorable environment for investors in the region
The state government has made the processes of project approval, land allocation and coordination between various departments simple and timely. Department of New and Renewable Energy is providing active support to investors from project conception to commissioning.
- Electricity will be supplied to the farmers during the day
A record minimum rate of ₹2.40 per unit has been received in the tender for the 4,022 MW feeder solar power program in the state. Quality and reliable electricity will be available to the farmers during the day time and there will be a qualitative improvement in the rural living standards.
- Targeting 20 thousand megawatts, the region is leading in the direction of becoming a green energy capital
At present, many projects of solar, wind, battery energy storage and pumped storage are in progress in various stages in the state. A target has been set to develop more than 20 thousand MW additional renewable energy capacity in the coming years. It is clear from the state projects and PPA signing that Battery Energy Storage Madhya Pradesh is playing a leading role in providing clean, affordable and reliable energy as well as India’s energy security, green development and realizing the vision of “Developed India 2047”.
