Millions of people struggled and sacrificed their lives in the face of hatred and violence during the Partition of India. Today, August 14th, ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ is observed in their memory.
The Government TCL Postgraduate College, Janjgir, held a solemn “Partition of India Horrors Memorial Day.” The primary objective of this program was to honor the memory of the millions of innocent people who suffered displacement, inhuman violence, and immense suffering during the Partition of India in 1947, and to educate the younger generation about the human aspects of this historic event.
The program was presided over by the college’s Principal, Dr. D.R. Lahare. College faculty, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, and a large number of students attended the event, recalling the unprecedented struggles faced by families affected by the tragedy of Partition.
- The foundation of national unity has to be strengthened further.

Addressing the youth, senior professor Dr. M.L. Patle said that the primary purpose of remembering such tragic and difficult chapters of history is not to spread hatred in society, but to strengthen the foundation of mutual harmony, brotherhood and national unity.
- A collective resolution was taken to always preserve the sovereignty, integrity and social harmony of the country.
The program concluded with a collective resolve to always preserve the nation’s sovereignty, integrity, social harmony, and mutual love. During the program, students were introduced in detail to the historical events surrounding the Partition of India and its far-reaching social and humanitarian impact. Senior Professor Dr. P.K. Singh, Program Officer R.K. Chandra, and Dr. Pushpa Singh were present at this solemn event.
