  • are being organised in colleges across the state on the eve of National Unity Day.

The Madhya Pradesh Police and Higher Education Department are organizing the Jan Suraksha Yuva Srujan Samvad (Public Safety Youth Creation Dialogue) to educate youth about the Constitution and the law, alert them to cybercrime, and sensitize them to their rights and duties. Over 60,000 students have participated in these activities, which are currently underway in various colleges across the state. This initiative, run by the Community Policing Branch of the Madhya Pradesh Police in coordination with the Higher Education Department, aims not only to educate youth about law and security, but also to inspire them to develop into aware, vigilant, sensitive, and responsible citizens. Through the program, students are being exposed to topics such as the Constitution, legal rights, new criminal justice legislation, cybersecurity, mental health, social harmony, and civic duties. Held on the eve of National Unity Day, these programs are educating students on security and social concerns relevant to their daily lives.

  • Joint initiative of Police and Higher Education Department through MoU

This program has been designed based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the Madhya Pradesh Police and the Higher Education Department. Its objective is to institutionalize dialogue between colleges and the police and to provide students with practical knowledge on issues related to public safety. The program provides students with an opportunity to understand that citizen awareness and participation, along with law enforcement agencies, are crucial to building a safe society.

  • 136 professors from 66 colleges became trainers.

To effectively implement the program, the Community Policing Branch, Police Headquarters, organized a state-level Training of Trainers (ToT) program on October 10, 2026. 136 professors from 66 government colleges across the state participated. During the training, professors were provided with information on topics related to the Constitution and fundamental rights, legal awareness, new criminal justice legislation, cybersecurity, mental health, social harmony, and civic duties. Through these trained professors, discussions and workshops are being organized for college students on the prescribed topics.

  • Statewide action plan decided on October 14-15

Following the ToT, an online video conference was held on October 14th and 15th with trained professors from the Higher Education Department and state-level nodal officers from the Madhya Pradesh Police. This coordinated the program’s delivery, content, and college-level activities. A two-day format was established for students, with the first day consisting of a thematic workshop at the college and a visit to the police station on the second day.

  • Workshop topics range from law to mental health

In college workshops, students are being provided with basic information about the Constitution, fundamental and legal rights, and the latest criminal justice legislation. Additionally, topics such as cybercrime prevention, safe use of digital media, mental health, and emotional balance are also being discussed. Students are being encouraged to exercise caution in online activities and be vigilant against any suspicious activity. Through topics related to civic duties, respect for the law, and social harmony, efforts are being made to convey to students that fulfilling responsibilities is essential along with rights.

  • Students are getting a closer understanding of the working of the police by visiting the police station.

On the second day, students are being taken on a tour of the respective police stations. Here, they are learning about the daily workings of the police, including law and order responsibilities, citizen assistance, the complaint system, and security-related tasks. The purpose of the station visits is to give students a firsthand experience of the role of the police and to address their queries about policing. This also provides an opportunity for direct interaction between students and the police.

  • Participation of more than 60 thousand students

Under the program, more than 60,000 college students have participated in activities organized in various districts across the state. Student participation isn’t limited to workshops. During police station visits, they are also learning from police officers and staff on various topics and discussing their questions related to public safety. This widespread participation has fostered an environment of dialogue in colleges on topics related to security, law, and civic responsibility.

  • Community policing gets a new dimension

The Jan Suraksha Yuva Srujan Samvad advances the community policing approach, which emphasizes regular contact and trust between police and society. This initiative integrates practical knowledge of policing with college education. Professors deliver content to students, while police station visits provide them with an opportunity to understand the practical aspects of policing. This provides youth with the opportunity to connect law and security topics to their daily lives and social roles, rather than simply learning about them theoretically.

  • Aware youth, a step towards a safe society

The overarching objective of this initiative is to develop an understanding among youth that will enable them to be aware of their rights, respect the law, use digital media safely, contribute to maintaining social harmony, and, when necessary, take responsibility for their own and others’ safety. This joint effort by the Madhya Pradesh Police and Higher Education Department is also proving useful in developing colleges as important centers of public awareness. Future programs can be further enhanced based on program continuity, student feedback, and impact assessment. By connecting the energy and awareness of youth to public safety, this initiative is an important step toward strengthening the spirit of cooperation between the police, educational institutions, and society.
