A smile spreads across the face of Mrs. Rekha Kaivart, a resident of village Sarbahara, the moment she receives a notification on her mobile phone confirming the deposit of the Mahtari Vandan scheme amount into her account. Amidst the family’s limited income, this monthly financial assistance has made it easier for her to manage household needs and expenses related to her children’s education. Whether it is paying the children’s tuition fees or purchasing materials like fall and lining cloth for her tailoring shop, she no longer has to worry about these expenses as she once did.
42-year-old Mrs. Rekha Kaivart belongs to a family living below the poverty line. She runs a small-scale tailoring business in village Sarbahara, located in the Gaurela development block, and manages her family’s responsibilities with this income. She has three daughters and a son, all of whom are pursuing their education. Meeting the costs of her children’s schooling, household expenses, and procuring necessary tailoring materials had long been a challenge for her.
Rekha shares that she used to constantly worry about monthly household expenses and her children’s educational needs. She also had to struggle to arrange funds for purchasing tailoring supplies like fall and lining cloth. In this context, the regular financial assistance provided under the Mahtari Vandan scheme is proving to be immensely helpful.
She says, “Receiving one thousand rupees in my account every month makes it easier for me to manage essential household expenses. It ensures the funds are available for the children’s fees and tailoring supplies. I no longer have the worries I used to.”
