The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has brought convenience and ease to the lives of mothers and sisters. The availability of clean fuel has brought about a major transformation in the kitchens of rural families. For women who once cooked with wood and a stove, gas stoves have now become a means of simplifying daily chores. Mrs. Pushpa Bai of Dadar Khurd village in Korba district is one such beneficiary, whose life has been reduced by the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, making cooking much more convenient than before.
Mrs. Pushpa Bai explains that before receiving the benefits of the scheme, she had to rely on a stove and wood for cooking. Preparing daily meals required arranging for firewood. Sometimes, firewood wasn’t readily available. The problem was exacerbated during the rainy season. Lighting the stove was difficult because the wood became wet during the rain. Preparing food during these times required more time and effort.
She explains that previously, cooking a meal after lighting the stove used to take a long time. Kitchen chores were often accompanied by smoke, and even small needs required extra effort. Amidst household responsibilities, cooking had become a difficult part of her daily life. Now, after receiving a gas connection through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, this task has become much easier.
Pushpa says that whenever she needs to cook, she now uses gas as needed. This has reduced the time and effort required for cooking. Especially during the rainy season, she no longer has to deal with the hassle of burning wet wood and a stove. Cooking has become more convenient and effortless. For her, this change isn’t just about kitchen convenience, but also about the ease she’s experienced in her daily life.
She says that while cooking used to require a lot of preparation, now with the convenience of gas, she can easily prepare meals whenever needed. This also frees her up time for other household tasks.
Expressing her happiness over the benefits of the scheme, Mrs. Pushpa Bai expressed her gratitude to the government, saying, “Vishnu Bhaiya, understanding the needs and health of us mothers and sisters, has provided us with the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Having access to gas has made our lives easier than ever. Cooking is now convenient, and we can easily access gas whenever needed.
