- Nutrition awareness and public participation programmes will be organised across the state through inter-departmental coordination.
An inter-departmental coordination meeting was held today at the Directorate of Women and Child Development Department to ensure the effective and successful organization of National Nutrition Month 2026 in Chhattisgarh. Officials from various departments and affiliated organizations participated in the meeting and discussed in detail the outline of activities to be organized during Nutrition Month, departmental coordination, and effective implementation at the field level.

It was informed at the meeting that, as directed by the Government of India, the month of September is being celebrated as National Nutrition Month in the state with public participation. This year, the theme of Nutrition Month is “Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility.” The objective of the Nutrition Campaign is to improve the nutritional status of children, women, pregnant and lactating mothers, and adolescent girls, while also promoting healthy eating and nutritional behaviors in the community.
The meeting discussed conducting activities specifically on topics like dietary diversity and adequate protein intake during the Nutrition Month, fresh and hot cooked food in Anganwadi centres, community participation, nutrition and early stimulation for child development and cash transfer for maternal health through Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
Officials emphasized the need to transform nutrition into a mass movement through interdepartmental coordination, linking departmental plans and activities. Instructions were given to broaden nutrition awareness through Anganwadi centers, panchayats, schools, and the community, and to ensure maximum public participation.

Representatives of the concerned departments including Health and Family Welfare, Panchayat and Rural Development, Agriculture, Horticulture, Urban Administration, Sports and Youth Welfare, School Education, Public Relations, Public Health Engineering, Food and Civil Supplies, Scheduled Caste Development, Tribal Welfare, Skill Development, National Rural Livelihood Mission, National Health Mission, AYUSH participated in the meeting.
During Nutrition Month, special attention will be given to community-based activities, nutrition awareness, and digital monitoring. Arrangements have also been made to digitally monitor various nutrition indicators at Anganwadi centers through the Nutrition Tracker.
In the meeting, the officials were asked to ensure effective conduct of activities and mutual coordination by nominating nodal officers from their respective departments, so that all the programmes of Nutrition Month can be conducted effectively within the stipulated time frame.
