The Department of Mechanical Engineering, part of the MATS School of Engineering & IT (MSE&IT), organized an intensive three-day workshop on CATIA, starting on 24th February 2025, at the Smart Room, Arabhat Block, MATS University, Arang Campus. This workshop is a testament to the department’s ongoing commitment to equipping students with advanced technical skills and bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry practices. CATIA, a leading software in CAD/CAM/CAE, is widely used in the engineering and design industry for product Modelling, simulation, and analysis. This workshop provided students with invaluable hands-on experience and exposure to real-world applications of advanced design tools.
The workshop was led by Mr. Naresh Kesariya, a highly respected industry expert with over 28 years of experience in CAD/CAM/CAE projects, design engineering, and project management. Having worked as a project coordinator in the USA and UK, Mr. Kesariya brings a wealth of global expertise. His software proficiency includes CREO, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, ANSYS, Mold Flow Analysis, Image Ware, Hypermesh, and Auto Forge. Through his practical insights and deep knowledge, students gained a thorough understanding of CATIA’s capabilities and its application in engineering design.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Director, MSE&IT, who congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and acknowledged the importance of such workshops in shaping industry-ready professionals. Dr. Virendra Nayak, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, welcomed the guests and participants, emphasizing the role of technical workshops in enhancing the curriculum and ensuring students stay aligned with evolving industry standards.
The organizing team of Mechanical Engieering Department, played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the workshop. Their dedication helped create an environment conducive to practical learning and innovation. The workshop attracted active participation from students across various disciplines, eager to deepen their understanding of design engineering. Sessions covered key aspects of CATIA, including 3D Modelling, Simulation, and Drafting techniques, with participants solving real-world engineering problems and creating precise models essential for manufacturing and prototyping.
The event received praise and encouragement from the university’s leadership. Shri Gajraj Pagaria, Chancellor of MATS University, applauded the efforts of the faculty, students, and organizing team for making the workshop a success. Shri Priyesh Pagaria, Director General of MATS University, extended his best wishes and encouraged more such technical events to foster a culture of innovation and skill development. Shri Gokulananda Panda, Registrar of MATS University, highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive campus environment that nurtures creativity and professional growth.
With workshops like these, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MSE&IT, continues its mission of providing cutting-edge technical knowledge and practical exposure, preparing students to excel in their professional journeys and contribute meaningfully to the engineering industry.
