- Agricultural experts advised farmers to use the right amount and at the right time.
The use of innovation-based technologies in agriculture is providing farmers with new possibilities for achieving higher production at lower costs. Advanced fertilizers like Nano Urea and Nano DAP are not only providing essential nutrients to crops more effectively, but are also playing a vital role in soil fertility and environmental protection.
Dr. Gyanendra Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science) at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, explained that excessive and unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers, especially urea, can impact soil quality and the beneficial microorganisms present in it in the long term. Nano fertilizers are emerging as an effective alternative for modern agriculture, increasing nutrient use efficiency and providing better nutrition to crops.
He explained that Nano Urea is applied through foliar spray. Plants absorb nutrients directly through its leaves, making its use efficiency higher than conventional fertilizers. Scientific recommendations suggest that Nano Urea should be used at a rate of 4 ml per liter of water, and one 500 ml bottle is sufficient for one acre of land.
Dr. Kumar explained that for best results, the first application of nano urea should be done when the crop is 30 to 35 days old, and the second application should be done when the crop is 55 to 60 days old. This has shown positive improvements in crop growth, development, and production capacity.
Regarding Nano DAP, he explained that it is an effective means of providing phosphorus to crops. It can be used as both a seed treatment and a foliar spray. The recommended rate for seed treatment is 5 ml per kilogram of seed and for spraying, it is 2 ml per liter of water.
According to experts, the biggest advantage of nano fertilizers is that nutrients reach the plants directly, reducing fertilizer wastage and increasing crop yields. Furthermore, the soil is not subjected to unnecessary stress, maintaining its fertility and productivity over the long term.
The state government and the Agriculture Department are continuously striving to educate farmers about modern and scientific farming. Through training, demonstrations, and technical guidance, farmers are being educated on the benefits of nano fertilizers and their scientific uses.
Dr. Gyanendra Kumar has appealed to the farmers to use Nano Urea and Nano DAP in the prescribed quantity and as per scientific recommendations, so that apart from getting more production at lower cost, a significant contribution can also be made in soil health and environmental protection.
