- Communicate with trained daughters of STDW; Why did handmade gifts win foreign delegations?
hief Minister Dr. Realizing Mohan Yadav’s vision of ‘Women Empowerment and Safety’, the project ‘Safe Tourist Destination for Women (STDW)’ is being implemented by the MP Tourism Board. In this order, in a special session at the Tourism Board, Ms. Shoko Ishikawa, Country Representative of UN Women India directly interacted with the trained girls of the project and learned about their experiences and achievements. Ms. Shoko Ishikawa, Country Representative of UN Women India appreciated the confidence, leadership and skills of the trained girls and said that this initiative is an important example towards realizing the global vision of safe and inclusive tourism for women. He said that the active participation of local communities is the biggest strength of this projectResolve to make the safest state for women tourists
Additional Managing Director of MP Tourism Board Shri Abhay Arvind Bedekar said that our aim is to make Madhya Pradesh the safest and most sensitive tourist destination of the country for women tourists. Coordinated efforts in security, skill development and community engagement in the region are creating new opportunities for women and making the tourism sector more inclusive.A glimpse of self-sufficiency seen in handmade gifts
During the interaction on the STDW project, the women and girls associated with the project showcased their skills and presented self-made handicrafts to the guests. These include handmade souvenirs, fabric jewellery, feng shui artefacts. These products not only showcased local art and creativity, but also showed that the project was working effectively towards making women financially independent.
During the meeting, the delegation of UN Women appreciated the skills training model developed under the project, community participation and positive changes in women’s self-confidence, describing it as an effective and inspiring initiative. Ms. Kanta Singh, Country Deputy Representative of UN Women India and Ms. Joyatri Rai, State Representative were also present on this occasion.
