The government’s spawn cultivation scheme, aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and increasing fish production, is proving to be a boon for the fish farmers of the district. In this connection, on July 27, 2026, 23 lakh spawn (cumin-sized fish seeds) were distributed to Mr. Harishchandra Jangde, a beneficiary of Gram Panchayat Charmudia, at the Government Fish Seed Project, Sankara, under the scheme. This assistance is an important step towards giving a new direction to his fish farming business as well as making him economically strong.

He believes that if quality fish seed is available in a timely manner, it can significantly increase production and generate better income. With the aim of providing self-employment by cultivating fish seed (spawn) in seasonal ponds and selling fish seed, financial assistance of Rs. 30000 is provided to the beneficiaries of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe for fish seed (spawn) culture, pond improvement and inputs fish seed (spawn) etc.
