Swachhata Pakhwada: Message of cleanliness conveyed through a cleanliness pledge, a morning procession (Prabhat Pheri), and a tree plantation drive based on the themes of ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name).

  • Tree plantation drive held at the Old Rail Club, Bilaspur, under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ theme, led by General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash and SECRO President Smt. Meenakshi Sharma, alongside other officials.

In accordance with Railway Board directives, ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ (Cleanliness Fortnight) is being observed across South East Central Railway (SECR), Bilaspur, from October 1 to October 15, 2026, as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS)-2026’ campaign. Throughout the fortnight, various programs focusing on cleanliness, a clean environment, and public awareness are being organized daily within railway premises, aligned with specific themes.

  • Massive tree plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and a cleanliness pledge at the Old Officers’ Club, graced by General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash.

To raise awareness regarding cleanliness and environmental conservation, a cleanliness pledge and a tree plantation program were organized at the Old Officers’ Club, Bilaspur. On this occasion, General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash administered the cleanliness pledge to all those present. Subsequently, General Manager Shri Tarun Prakash, SECRO President Smt. Meenakshi Sharma, Additional General Manager Shri Vijay Kumar Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager Shri Rakesh Ranjan, along with Heads of Departments, branch officers, and a large number of railway employees, enthusiastically participated in the tree plantation drive.
Through this plantation drive, a message was conveyed emphasizing not only cleanliness but also the development of green, eco-friendly railway premises and the importance of collective participation in environmental conservation.

Additionally, students from the Railway School organized an exhibition showcasing art, craft, and paintings centered on the theme of cleanliness. Through their creative talents, the students effectively presented messages regarding cleanliness, environmental conservation, and the vision of a ‘Swachh Bharat’ (Clean India). An exhibition featuring attractive and useful art pieces created by the Mechanical Department based on the theme “Kabaad se Jugaad” (innovative creations from scrap) was also organized and inspected by the General Manager. The General Manager commended both these creative exhibitions.

As part of this initiative, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shri Rakesh Ranjan administered the cleanliness pledge to officers and staff at the DRM office premises in Bilaspur. Subsequently, a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) was taken out under the leadership of the DRM, proceeding from the DRM office via Titli Chowk to the Old Officers’ Club. During the procession, passersby and the general public were sensitized about cleanliness and encouraged to maintain a clean environment in their surroundings through slogans, posters, and messages regarding hygiene. Along with divisional officers and staff, teams from the Sports Association, Civil Defence, Bharat Scouts and Guides, St. John Ambulance, the Civil Protection Force, and railway schools participated enthusiastically in the procession.

  • Cleanliness Awareness Campaign Conducted at Major Stations and Railway Colonies of South East Central Railway

Under the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ (Cleanliness Fortnight), cleanliness pledge ceremonies were organized across all offices, stations, workshops, coaching depots, and goods sheds within the three divisions of South East Central Railway—Bilaspur, Raipur, and Nagpur. Heads of the respective offices administered the pledge to officers and staff, urging them to remain conscious of cleanliness and to keep their workplaces and surrounding premises clean.


Additionally, morning processions and cleanliness awareness programs were organized at all major stations and railway colonies. Through these processions, residents of railway colonies, passengers, and the general public were sensitized about cleanliness and encouraged to dispose of waste in designated areas, maintain hygiene, reduce plastic usage, and actively participate in creating a clean and healthy environment.
