The Mahtari Vandan Yojana is shaping the future of daughters

  • Neetu Sahu became an example of women empowerment

The Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious Mahatari Vandan Yojana is proving to be a significant step towards women’s economic empowerment and self-reliance. Through this scheme, women are not only receiving financial assistance, but are also using this money to build a bright future for their families and children. The story of Mrs. Neetu Sahu, a resident of Shyamtarai village in Dhamtari district, is an inspiring example of how even a small amount of financial assistance can transform a family’s outlook and future.

Mrs. Neetu Sahu’s life depends on wage labor. With limited income and family responsibilities, her biggest concern was securing the future of her two daughters—Nitya and Jagriti. As a mother, she was always worried about how she would financially manage their education and subsequent marriage.

Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh government’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana (Mahatma Vandan Yojana) brought a new ray of hope. The monthly financial assistance provided under the scheme brought positive change to her life. Neetu Sahu used this money wisely and opened accounts in the names of her two daughters under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana at the Bhatgaon Post Office.

Previously, due to financial constraints, she could barely manage to save a thousand rupees a year. But now, thanks to the funds she receives from the scheme, she is regularly depositing 500 rupees each into her two daughters’ accounts. This means saving 6,000 rupees each year for their future.

Neetu Sahu says this plan has not only provided her with financial support but also given her confidence in the future. She believes that when her daughters grow up, these savings will be a vital support for their education and marriage.

State Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai also had a virtual conversation with Neetu Sahu at a district-level program organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Neetu Sahu said that this government scheme has given new hope to thousands of families like hers and provided women with an opportunity to become self-reliant.
Neetu Sahu’s story demonstrates that if women are given opportunities and support, they can lay a strong foundation for a bright future for their families and children, even with limited resources. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana is transforming the lives of millions of women in the state, inspiring them to move forward with self-respect and confidence.
