It is a matter of great pride for the state of Chhattisgarh that the team of Eklavya Adarsh Residential School, Kosambudha, under the Janpad Panchayat of Gariaband district, has won the first prize in the National Model Youth Gram Sabha Competition held in New Delhi. This competition was organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, in which more than 800 schools from across the country participated. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai expressed happiness over this achievement of the students of Eklavya Residential School and congratulated the winning students, teachers and school management. He said that this success is a proof of the ability of the talented youth of the state and the quality education.
Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister Shri Vijay Sharma paid a courtesy call on the national winning team today and offered his best wishes and congratulations to the students. He said that this achievement is a significant step towards strengthening democratic values in Chhattisgarh’s education system. The students demonstrated their excellent understanding of the workings of the Gram Sabha, identifying rural problems, and presenting their solutions.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma stated that as part of this competition, students organized mock Gram Sabha sessions, engaging in practical discussions on rural development, decision-making, and local issues. The team from Eklavya Model Residential School, Kosambudha, demonstrated a deep understanding and effective presentation on these topics, resulting in first place. The winning team received a citation and an incentive of ₹1 crore for the institution’s development.
Tribal Development Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam also described this achievement as a positive result of empowering education in tribal areas. Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department, Shri Sonmani Bora, commended the students’ efforts and called them inspirational in building responsible citizens of the future.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary Ms. Niharika Barik and Director Panchayat Department Ms. Priyanka Mahobiya congratulated the Principal of the school Dr. Kamalkant Yadav and all the students for this achievement.
