- 92 feet long tricolor hoisted
- People’s representatives, ex-servicemen, students, officers, employees and citizens participated with enthusiasm in the 2.5 km long Tiranga Yatra foot march.
A grand Tiranga Yatra was organised in Kanker today under the chief patronage of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Kanker district, Shri Arun Saw. A large number of public representatives, ex-servicemen, students, officers, employees and city residents participated in the 2.5 km long walk of the Tiranga Yatra, filled with patriotism and with unparalleled enthusiasm. MLA Shri Asharam Netam and Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Board, Smt. Shalini Rajput also participated in the Tiranga Yatra.
Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, the Tiranga Yatra, which began from the playground of the Government Narhardev English Medium School of Excellence, passed through Nagar Ghadi Chowk, Upar-Neeche Road, Masjid Chowk, and Gandhi Chowk and concluded at the newly constructed mini stadium complex. A large number of public representatives, ex-servicemen, students, officers and employees, dignitaries, media representatives, and officials of voluntary organizations participated enthusiastically, holding the national flag in their hands.
The march began with the singing of the national anthem, Vande Mataram. Citizens showered flowers at various locations to welcome the rally participants and chant patriotic slogans. Residents encouraged the students by distributing chocolates and toffees. This district-level Tiranga Yatra was organized to mark the 150th anniversary of the Vande Mataram song, under the direction of the Union Ministry of Culture and the Chhattisgarh government’s Culture Department.
- 92 feet tricolor becomes the center of attraction
Students participating in the Tiranga Yatra displayed a 92-foot-long and 5-foot-wide tricolor. The procession, waving it through various streets and intersections across the city, became a major draw for the public. The students from St. Michael’s English School’s band marched in the rally, playing instruments to the tune of the national anthem.
On the instructions of the Central and State governments, the “Tiranga in Every Home” program is being organized from August 9th to August 17th. Through the Tiranga Yatra, citizens are being encouraged to hoist the national flag at their homes and sing the national song, Vande Mataram, thereby awakening a sense of patriotism and respect for the national flag.
