Workers will get economic and social empowerment through new labour codes – (Chairman Labour Welfare Board) Shri Yogesh Dutt Mishra

To raise awareness about the state government’s welfare schemes for workers, a workers’ public dialogue conference was organized on Sunday in the Chhindnar Gram Panchayat, located in the district headquarters of Dantewada. At the event, more than 1 crore 4 lakh rupees were transferred directly to the bank accounts of 1,242 beneficiaries under various labor department schemes through DBT.

MLA Chaitram Atami, the chief guest of the program, said that the state government is implementing more than 31 schemes for the benefit of workers and their families. It is essential that information about these schemes reach every worker, so they can fully benefit from them. The goal of the Workers’ Public Dialogue Conference is to ensure that as many workers as possible join and benefit from the schemes.

Presiding over the event, Yogesh Dutt Mishra, Chairman of the Labour Welfare Board, stated that the Central Government has taken a historic decision to implement four new labor codes in the interest of workers, which is an important step towards the economic and social empowerment of workers and their families. He noted that approximately 45 percent of the country’s population is employed in the unorganized sector, without whose development, overall development of the country is impossible.
He detailed the provisions of the four new labor codes—the Code on Wages, 2019, the Code on Social Security, 2020, the Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH), 2020, and the Code on Industrial Relations, 2020. He explained that under the new provisions, a national minimum wage will be fixed, preventing any state from paying less than the prescribed wage. Additionally, the safety, medical treatment, provident fund, and other social security measures for workers and their families will be further strengthened.

He appealed to the public representatives and workers present to provide information about the departmental schemes to as many workers as possible and motivate them to avail the benefits, so that the vision of developed Chhattisgarh and developed India can be realised.

District President Sunita Bhaskar, District President Shakuntala Bhaskar, District Panchayat Member Mamta Mandavi, District Panchayat Member Tuleshwari Nagesh, senior public representative Santosh Gupta along with other public representatives, officers and employees of the Labour Department were present in the program.
