Just 10 years old, with big dreams and a passion to move forward… but a shortcoming in life hindered him at every step. This story is about to change for 10-year-old Kamlesh Oyam, son of Mr. Sukku, a resident of Pidia village in Bijapur district. Through the Chirayu program, Kamlesh has been provided with a prosthetic limb for his right leg. After the successful implantation of the prosthetic leg at the District Hospital, Dantewada, new hope has emerged in Kamlesh’s life.
Kamlesh currently attends Saksham Residential School, Awarga, Dantewada district. Aspiring to excel in his studies and school activities, mobility hasn’t always been easy for Kamlesh. His needs were identified during a health checkup. Following this, the Chirayu program initiated the necessary procedures to provide him with a prosthetic limb.
The prosthetic leg will open up new avenues for Kamlesh to progress in both his daily activities and his school life. He will now find it easier to navigate the school campus, participate in daily activities, and spend time with his peers with greater confidence.
For Kamlesh, this isn’t just a prosthetic limb, but a new step toward self-reliance. For the family, it’s also a moment of relief and joy that their child has received the healthcare he needs and will be able to pursue his education and future dreams with greater strength.
Under the Chirayu program, children are identified with health problems and connected to necessary treatment and services. After being identified during a health checkup, Kamlesh was initiated to provide treatment and facilities tailored to his prosthetic limb needs. The Health Department strives to identify health problems in children that could hinder their normal life, education, or development in a timely manner, so that they can be provided with the necessary treatment and services. Providing Kamlesh with a prosthetic leg is an example of this effort.
