Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism and Religious Trusts and Endowments Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi said that the cultural consciousness of any society remains alive only when it continuously conveys to the new generation the immeasurable contribution of its great men and great artists. Keeping this idea in mind, the Department of Culture has been organizing a music evening in commemoration of the late Kishore Kumar, the pinnacle of Indian cinema, for ten consecutive years. Minister of State Shri Lodhi was addressing the musical evening ‘Ye Sham Mastani’ at Rabindra Bhavan. The Minister of State Shri Lodhi said that this event is not just a cultural event but a tribute to the priceless legacy of Indian film music, which has enthralled millions of listeners for decades with tone and emotion.
The Minister of State Shri Lodhi said that this holy place of Madhya Pradesh has been the birthplace and work place of many great Vibhutis. We are proud that this soil has given Indian cinema such a unique artist whose talent no single introduction can suffice. Kishore Kumar was not just a playback singer, he was a complete art institution in himself. There was such a wonderful variety of emotions in his voice, which easily conveyed love, anger, laughter, compassion, enthusiasm and philosophy of life. Minister of State Shri Lodhi along with Director of Culture Shri N.P. Namdev and Deputy Director Dr. Pooja Shukla started the musical evening by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, the Minister of State Mr. Lodhi also felicitated the winners of the inter-college music competition by awarding certificates to the talented youth of LNCT Group’s ‘Agaz Band’ and SAGE University’s band.
Well-known music director and singer Mr. Anu Malik and ‘K for Kishore’ winner well-known singer Mr. Anil Srivastava were warmly welcomed by the audience. The music of Is Surmayi Sham is composed by renowned composer Anu Malik. Describing Bhopal as the city of Tehzeeb, he thanked the Department of Culture and started singing with his popular song “Yeh Kali-Kali Aayen…” remembering Kishore Da. He enthralled the audience with energetic songs like “Ek Garam Chai Ki Pyaali Ho”, “Jawaani Phir Na Aye” and “Oonchi Hai Building”. After this singer Mr. Anil Srivastava took the stage and tied the show with the title song “Yeh Sham Mastani…”. He enthralled the music lovers of Bhopal by rendering evergreen songs like “Rimzim Gire Sawan”, “Ek Ajnabi Hasina Se”, “Mere Samaane Wali Kakhi Mein”, “Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai” and “Salam-e-Ishq”.
The special achievement of this musical evening was the energetic participation of young talents. This prestigious platform was provided to the young talents of Bhopal through the inter-college music competition organized by the Department of Culture. Sage University Band performed “Haal Kya Hai Dilon Ka”, “Hum Tumse Pyaar Kitna”, “Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Todenge” and “Om Shanti Om” in a new style. Meanwhile, LNCT’s ‘Aagaz Band’ gave a thunderous rendition of classic songs like “Bachna Ae Haseenon”, “Neele-Neele Amber Par”, “Mere Sapnon Ki Rani” and “O Mere Dil Ke Chain” to huge applause. The songs of Kishore Da were thoroughly enjoyed by the music lovers present in large numbers in this cultural festival which lasted till late.
