- Training program organized for employment opportunities for youth through cooperatives
In a training program organized at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University with the aim of connecting students with employment opportunities and making them self-reliant, Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichhar Netam gave the mantra of ’employment through cooperation’ to the students. In a workshop jointly organized by Indian Labor Committee, New Delhi, Indian Quality Council and Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur in the seminar hall of Agricultural College, Raipur, Shri Netam said that cooperation is not only a medium of economic activities, but is also an effective path to employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance for the youth.
Addressing the students, the Agriculture Minister said that in today’s times, youth need to think about becoming job creators instead of just looking for jobs. Through cooperatives, youth can establish small and medium-scale enterprises by making better use of resources, technology, and markets. He said that cooperatives offer vast employment opportunities in many sectors, including agriculture, dairy production, minor forest produce, food processing, handicrafts, and the service sector. By linking youth talent, technical knowledge, and innovation with cooperatives, economic activities can be accelerated at the local level.
Women’s self-help groups and farmer producer organizations formed in the cooperative sector in Chhattisgarh are doing commendable work in this direction. The Agriculture Minister urged the students to understand the spirit of cooperation, work as a team, and strive to convert local resources into local employment. The program was presided over by Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice Chancellor of the Agricultural University.
Organized to provide youth with new employment opportunities through cooperatives, this one-day free training workshop was addressed by Mr. Lakhan Lal Sahu, Chairman of the Indian Labor Committee, New Delhi; Mr. Niranjan Sinha, Chairman of the District Cooperative Bank, Raipur; Mr. Saurabh Sharma, Chairman of the State Cooperative Union; Mr. Rajendra Singh, Chairman of the District Cooperative Union; and Mr. Shiv Srivastava, Managing Member of the Cooperative Union, New Delhi. Officials from various cooperative-related organizations were also present. During the program, students discussed various topics related to cooperatives, employment, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Aarti Guhe, Dean of the Agricultural College, Raipur, expressed her gratitude to the guests. Present on the occasion were Dr. S.S. Tooteja, Director of Extension Services, various department heads, professors, and a large number of students.
