- Under the ‘Meri Beti–Mera Abhiman’ (My Daughter–My Pride) campaign, a restroom built in Village Tarra at a cost of ₹7 lakh features solar-powered lighting.
- Includes specialized restroom facilities and ramps for girls with disabilities.
Under the ‘Meri Beti–Mera Abhiman’ campaign—part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Rozgar evam Aajeevika Guarantee Mission Gramin’ (VB-G Ramji)—the state’s first solar-powered girls’ restroom has been constructed at the Government Primary and Middle School in Gram Panchayat Tarra, located in the Abhanpur block of Raipur district. Built at a cost of approximately ₹7 lakh, this modern facility is equipped with solar-powered lighting and specialized amenities for girls with disabilities. This development provides significant relief to 70 female students and two female teachers at the school.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has launched the state-wide ‘Meri Beti–Mera Abhiman’ campaign under the VB-G Ramji mission to honor the daughters of the state. Through this initiative, the right to restroom facilities for girls will be ensured in all rural government schools across the state by Republic Day, January 26, 2027. The campaign aims to provide a safe, hygienic, and dignified environment for girls, while encouraging their regular school attendance and education.
- Solar-Powered Lighting and Specialized Facilities for Girls with Disabilities

For the construction of the restroom in Village Tarra, ₹5 lakh was provided through the VB-G Ramji scheme, while an additional ₹2 lakh was contributed by Collector Shri Gaurav Singh from the Minor Mineral Development Fund. Solar panels have been installed on the roof to provide lighting. To ensure water availability, taps and a storage tank (Sintex tank) have been set up. Furthermore, a sanitary pad incinerator has been installed for the convenience of the girls. For girls with disabilities, a dedicated restroom, a ramp, and support railings have been constructed. The premises have also been equipped with paver blocks, plantation, and sanitation arrangements.
- Relief from Dilapidated Toilets: Joy Among Female Students
The existing toilet at the school in Tarra village had fallen into a completely dilapidated state. Consequently, female students often had to return home to use a restroom, while female teachers had to rely on the facilities at the Panchayat building. This issue was negatively impacting both the students’ education and their health. Recognizing the school’s needs, the construction of a new toilet facility was approved and completed with the support of local public representatives, departmental officials, teachers, and villagers.
The new facility has brought joy to the female students. They shared that the previous lack of a proper toilet caused significant hardship, often making them reluctant to even come to school. Now, with a clean and convenient facility available, they can continue their studies without any hindrance. The female teachers have also expressed their satisfaction with this new amenity.
- Plans Underway for the Construction of 94 Toilets for Girls in Abhanpur Block

Shri Dayanand Dewangan, Chief Executive Officer of the Abhanpur Janpad Panchayat, stated that under the ‘Meri Beti–Mera Abhiman’ (My Daughter–My Pride) campaign, locations have been identified for the construction of 94 toilets for girls across the block. Similar to the facility in Tarra village, well-equipped toilets will be built at these identified sites. These toilets have been designed with a standard comparable to those found in airports—offering a full range of amenities. Under the guidance of Collector Shri Gaurav Singh, these facilities also include sanitary pad incinerators, prioritizing the health and well-being of the students.
This initiative in Tarra village serves as an exemplary model, integrating sanitation, renewable energy, and infrastructure accessible to persons with disabilities within a rural school setting. Through the ‘Meri Beti–Mera Abhiman’ campaign, efforts are being made to expand facilities that support the health, safety, and dignity of daughters.
