- Chemotherapy facility for cancer patients will start soon in Medical College Hospital
- The meeting of the Autonomous Committee was held at Medical College, Raigarh under the chairmanship of Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and in the presence of Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary.
The general body (autonomous committee) of the Chhattisgarh Health Medical Education and Research Committee met today at the Late Shri Lakhiram Agarwal Memorial Government Medical College in Raigarh. The meeting was chaired by the State Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. Finance, Commercial Tax, Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary was also present.
The Health Minister approved ₹50 crore for various repair and construction works in the Medical College and Hospital buildings. The Public Works Department was also instructed to ensure quality and improved appearance. Approval was granted for the purchase of essential emergency medicines as per the Ayushman Scheme for patients admitted to the Medical College-affiliated hospital.
With the introduction of these facilities, patients will have access to high-quality diagnostic services locally and the quality of treatment will significantly improve. In the meeting, the autonomous committee also took the decision to recruit technicians, staff nurses, computer operators, etc. for the medical college and hospital through outsourcing on the required third and fourth class posts.
In the committee meeting, the Health Minister directed to start ART centre for AIDS patients in Medical College, Raigarh and to make chemotherapy facility available to cancer patients soon. During this meeting, the committee directed to install interactive panels to make each lecture hall and demo hall of MBBS and MS/MD hi-tech, and also directed the doctors and students to organize more number of paper publications, workshops and conferences.
As per the decision taken in the meeting, for the immediate purchase of small items like medicines, chemicals, kits, glassware etc. related to the immediate need of patients, an advance amount of Rs. 5000/- is being provided to all the clinical department heads from the autonomous head and the amount is being adjusted from the regular budget through the district treasury. Therefore, approval was given to accept the advance amount given to the department heads as expenditure from the autonomous head. It
was expected that the decisions taken in the meeting will bring about a major improvement in the quality, availability and accessibility of health services in the medical college and associated hospitals. All the concerned officials were directed to complete the approved works within the time limit and benefit the general public soon.
District Panchayat President Mrs. Shikha Ravindra Gabel, Mayor Mr. Jeevardhan Chauhan, Health Department Secretary Mr. Amit Kataria, Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, Dean Dr. Santosh Kumar, along with officers of various departments, department heads and committee members were present in the meeting.
