Farmers are getting benefits from the National Food and Nutrition Security Mission

  • With free maize seeds and technical guidance, Ramesh Rajwade started maize farming on 2 acres.

The Coarse Grain Scheme under the National Food and Nutrition Security Mission is proving to be an effective tool for farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices and increase production. Under the scheme, farmers are encouraged to improve production and increase their income by providing them with quality seeds, essential agricultural materials, and technical guidance. Taking advantage of the scheme, Mr. Ramesh Rajwade, a resident of Krishnapur village in the Ambikapur development block of Surguja district, cultivated maize on two acres this year under the guidance of the Agriculture Department. The Agriculture Department provided him with maize seeds for two acres free of charge through the village servant. The farmer sowed maize using the prescribed row system as per departmental guidance. The maize crop is currently in good condition in the field, and the farmer is excited by the crop’s growth.

Mr. Ramesh Rajwade explained that last year he cultivated black gram. This year, with guidance from the Agriculture Department and support from the scheme, he decided to cultivate maize. In addition to providing seeds, the Agriculture Department’s field staff also provided him with information on row sowing, crop management, and timely spraying of necessary pesticides. He is regularly caring for his crop. The farmer explained that he receives periodic guidance from the village servant and the Agriculture Department’s field staff regarding farming issues and crop management. This is facilitating his scientific crop care. He hopes to have a good maize harvest this year, which will increase his agricultural income.

Mr. Ramesh Rajwade expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai for providing free seeds and agricultural technical guidance to farmers. He said that government support is encouraging farmers to adopt new agricultural techniques and improve production. Through the National Food and Nutrition Security Mission, farmers are being provided with quality seeds and information on scientific agricultural practices. Adoption of techniques like row sowing is improving crop management and increasing farmers’ confidence in modern agriculture. Through the scheme, farmers are continuously encouraged to increase production and increase their agricultural income.
