The Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious Mahatari Vandan Yojana is proving to be a historic step towards the economic empowerment and self-reliance of women in the state. The scheme is directly benefiting remote and rural areas of Narayanpur district, where 27,272 eligible women are receiving regular financial assistance through DBT. Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, this scheme is not only providing financial support to women but also enhancing their decision-making abilities and respect within their families and society.
- Effective implementation of the scheme in Narayanpur
Narayanpur district, with its geographical expanse and 419 villages and two development blocks, is primarily rural and remote. Therefore, the fixed monthly amount of 1,000 rupees has become a major support for these families.
Under this scheme, 26,710 eligible women in the district are receiving continuous benefits in the first phase. Similarly, in the second phase, 562 additional beneficiaries in remote areas under Niyyad Nellanar have been added to the scheme. A total of 27,272 women in the district are being empowered. Since the scheme’s inception, a total of ₹74,66,42,300 has been deposited directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through 30 installments.

Women are primarily using this money to care for their families’ nutrition and health by purchasing better rations, food, and essential medicines. Furthermore, receiving this money on time during important festivals and occasions like Raksha Bandhan doubles the happiness and confidence on women’s faces.
