- Initiation ceremony of newly admitted girl students at Sant Gobindram Shadani Government Arts and Commerce Girls College
The initiation ceremony for newly admitted students for the year 2026-27 at Sant Gobindram Shadani Government Arts and Commerce Girls College, Raipur, was held today under the chief patronage of Governor Shri Ramen Deka. On this occasion, the Governor also honored the college’s talented students.
Addressing the newly admitted students, Governor Shri Ramen Deka said that today marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. This chapter will not only limit them to obtaining degrees, but will also prepare them to become aware, empowered, and sensitive citizens. He said that by stepping into this college, the students have become inheritors of a glorious tradition that has provided the light of knowledge and education to girls for decades.
Comparing women to water, Mr. Deka said that just as life is incomplete without water, society is incomplete without women. He urged the students to be content with what they have, but to continue striving for their future. There are many opportunities and areas for advancement in life. If success is not achieved in one area, instead of becoming discouraged, one should seize other opportunities and move forward.
The Governor said that life is a continuous learning process, and we remain students throughout our lives. He told the students that they are students of the internet age. Technology has opened new doors to knowledge, but complete dependence on technology is not appropriate. Much can be learned from the internet, but it cannot replace human intelligence and wisdom. Acquiring knowledge and using it wisely is essential to make life simple, meaningful, and better.
He said that we should not only think about what society has given us, but also consider what we can contribute to the betterment of society, our neighborhoods, and our country. Life is precious, so it should not be wasted in unnecessary worries. We should focus on the present and work hard. With continued efforts, the future will surely be better.
Describing the crucial role of teachers in shaping the future of students, the Governor said that their contribution is invaluable and cannot be measured in monetary terms. Teachers should also set an example for students through their conduct and behavior, so that they can draw inspiration from them.
He urged the students to make small, positive contributions to society. These small efforts can bring about significant change. At the event, the Governor honored talented college students who have brought glory to the college through their hard work, dedication, and ingenuity. MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, Saint Shri Yudhishthir Lal, college Principal Smt. Usha Kiran Agarwal, the Chairperson of the Public Participation Committee, faculty members, and a large number of students were present.
