- Free eye check-ups for 4,000 villagers—including 1,795 women—and spectacles provided to 1,939 individuals
A free eye check-up and spectacle distribution campaign was successfully concluded across 41 villages—spanning the peripheral areas of the plant and the railway corridor—under the ‘Vision Care’ program run by the Adani Foundation, the social development arm of Adani Power Limited (Chhote Bhandar). Organized under the theme “Clear Vision, Better Future,” this initiative aimed to expand access to eye health services in rural areas and provide timely check-ups and consultations, particularly for women and senior citizens.
The program was conducted from July 15 to August 27, 2026, in collaboration with the Vision Care organization. Held with prior approval from the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Raigarh, the campaign began in the village of Barpali. Subsequently, eye check-up camps were organized in a phased manner across 41 villages, including Bade Bhandar, Chhote Bhandar, Sarwani, Bunga, Taparda, Supa, Kotmara, Jatri, Kashichua, Kalma, Chandli, Raibar, Chikhli, Uchhabhitti, Usraut, and Gorra.
During this period, 4,000 villagers underwent eye examinations, comprising 2,205 men and 1,795 women. All beneficiaries belonged to the adult and senior citizen categories. Following the examinations, 1,939 individuals were provided with free spectacles. While 695 pairs of spectacles were ordered during July and August 2026, 500 pairs have already been distributed, and the distribution of the remaining 195 pairs is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month. During the screenings, 985 individuals were diagnosed with conditions such as cataracts, refractive errors, and other eye-related issues; they have been referred to the Government District Hospital in Raigarh or the Raigarh Medical College for detailed examination and treatment.

This initiative is part of the Adani Foundation’s annual health programs and marked the second year of the drive. While the program benefited 2,000 villagers and 2,000 school students last year, this year it reached 4,000 people, with a special focus on the rural community. The program was conducted with a priority on the eye health of women and senior citizens.
The program received active support from local public representatives and health workers. Sarpanchs from various villages—including Mr. Sanjay Maitri (Barpali), Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (Bade Bhandar), and Mr. Ved Prakash Sahu (Bunga)—along with Deputy Sarpanchs and health workers, attended the camps and encouraged villagers to avail themselves of the services.
Sharing his experience, Mr. Hariram Bharti, a 76-year-old farmer from Barpali village, said, “My eyesight had been deteriorating over the past few years, causing difficulties in farming and daily activities. At the free eye screening camp organized by the Adani Foundation, my condition was diagnosed, and I received the necessary consultation. I am now confident that my vision can improve. For me, this camp has brought not just healthcare services, but also new hope.”
The Adani Foundation works towards empowering rural communities through various programs in the fields of health, education, livelihood, and community development. The ‘Vision Care’ program is part of this effort, facilitating better health and quality of life for villagers by providing timely eye screenings, consultations, spectacles, and treatment.
