- With the efforts of Minister Shri Sarang, the Malkhamb and Gymnastics Academy will be developed in 20 acres and

A great initiative is being taken by the efforts of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang to take Malkham sports and sportspersons to new heights in Madhya Pradesh. A proposal has been prepared to develop Malkhamb and Gymnastics Academy equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for Malkhamb players in the region. To be developed on about 20 acres of land, this academy will provide sports infrastructure, hostels, modern sports equipment and high level training facilities. A provision of around Rs.86 crore is proposed for the construction of the infrastructure of the academy. At the same time, for the running of the academy from the year 2026-27 to 2028-29, an operational expenditure of approximately Rs.25.33 crore is proposed. Thus the total proposed amount will be around Rs 111.33 crore.
- Malkhamb ki talents will get a world class platform
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Sarang said that there is no dearth of talent in Madhya Pradesh. The requirement is that these talents should be provided with modern facilities, specialist training and better opportunities. Minister Shri Sarang said that Malkhamb is part of the glorious sports tradition of Madhya Pradesh and the sportsmen of the state have showcased their talent at the national level. The objective of establishment of Malkham Academy is to provide scientific and high technical training to the talents of the region from an early age, so that our players can shine the name of Madhya Pradesh and the country at national as well as international level.
Minister Shri Sarang said that along with sports training, accommodation, modern sports equipment, fitness, physiotherapy and sports science based facilities will also be provided to the players in the academy. Talented players will be selected from across the region through talent search and a better training environment will be provided to them. Minister Shri Sarang said that the government’s aim is to make Madhya Pradesh a strong hub for sports and for this, special attention is being given to developing the talent of sportspersons along with infrastructure development.
- Great performance by Malkhamb players in Khelo India
Malkhamb players of Madhya Pradesh have performed brilliantly at the national level. At the Khelo India Youth Games-2025, Bihar, the region’s athletes bagged a total of 10 medals including 7 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze in Malkhamb. In view of these achievements, the need for an academy for high level training and better facilities for Malkham players was felt. The proposed academy is an important step in this direction.
- Players will get training
A total of 70 players are proposed to be trained at the Malkham Academy. This will include 35 boys, 15 girls, 15 day-boarding boys and 5 day-boarding girls. A total of 50 players will be in boarding and 20 players will be in day-boarding arrangement.
It is proposed to operate the Academy on day-boarding model at Rajmata Khel Campus, Nanakheda, Ujjain in the years 2026-27 and 2027-28 till the permanent infrastructure is ready. In this phase, 30 boys and 10 girls, total 40 players will be admitted. Players will be selected through talent search. Accommodation arrangements for selected players outside Ujjain will be made by the department.
- Players will get modern and sports science based training
Modern and high technical training will be provided to the players in the academy. There is a provision to hire the services of highly technical consultants and specialist trainers on contract basis. The services of physiotherapists and masseurs will also be available along with trainers in day-boarding arrangements. For this, an arrangement of one female physiotherapist and two masseurs, one female and one male, is proposed.
- Ujjain will become Malkham Pratibhaon Ki Nai Nursery
The responsibility of management and supervision of the Academy is proposed to be given to the Sports and Youth Welfare Officer, Ujjain. In the initial phase, the daily activities of the Academy will be conducted from the available departmental staff. A total of 12 posts have been sanctioned for Ujjain district, which include the posts of Divisional Sports and Youth Welfare Officer, District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer, Accountant, Assistant Grade-2, Assistant Grade-3 and Clerk.
An organized high level training center for Malkhamb in Madhya Pradesh will be developed through the proposed academy. Training will be started on day-boarding model in Ujjain till permanent infrastructure is ready. After this, the academy equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will play an important role in preparing Malkhamb players of the region for national and international level.
