Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal participated in the grand Dahi Handi festival held at Jashpur’s Ranjita Stadium, an event steeped in devotion, faith, and the joy associated with Lord Krishna. The atmosphere was electric with celebration, witnessed by thousands of devotees and teams of ‘Govindas’ (participants forming human pyramids). The entire stadium complex resonated with chants hailing Lord Krishna, creating an atmosphere filled with devotion.
Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal boosted the morale of the devotees and Govindas by joining the festivities and extended his heartfelt greetings to everyone on the occasion of the Dahi Handi festival. He remarked that the life of Lord Krishna inspires us with values of love, compassion, righteousness (Dharma), duty, and public welfare. Traditional festivals like Dahi Handi not only keep our rich cultural heritage alive but also strengthen unity, brotherhood, and social harmony within society.

The main attraction of the festival was the thrilling performance by Govinda teams as they broke the ‘Dahi Handi’ (curd pot). Climbing onto each other’s shoulders to reach the height, the Govindas demonstrated remarkable courage, trust, discipline, and collective effort. As soon as the Dahi Handi was broken, the entire stadium echoed with the chant of “Jai Shri Krishna.”
Minister Shri Agrawal stated that Dahi Handi is not merely an occasion for celebration and entertainment but a symbol of collective strength, cooperation, and trust. When society moves unitedly towards a goal, even the most difficult objectives can be achieved. Each member of the Govinda team works through collective effort while trusting one another, and this unity is society’s greatest strength.

The Tourism and Culture Minister noted that Chhattisgarh is defined by its rich folk culture, traditions, and diverse religious-cultural events. Festivals like Dahi Handi serve as vital mediums for passing on our cultural heritage to the next generation.
He remarked, “Our culture is our identity. Such festivals not only keep our traditions alive but also connect the new generation to their roots and cultural heritage. It is our responsibility to preserve these traditions and pass them on to future generations.”
He added that the life and message of Lord Krishna possess the remarkable power to guide society in the right direction. His ideals of love, harmony, duty, and public welfare remain entirely relevant today.

During the Dahi Handi festival, songs and bhajans (devotional hymns) dedicated to Lord Krishna further enhanced the devotional atmosphere. The air resonated with devotional fervor through songs like “Tere Naina Herat Herat, Makhan Churaye Nandlal…” Adorned with enthusiasm, joy, and devotion to Krishna, this grand festival presented a vivid picture of Jashpur’s religious faith, cultural traditions, and social unity.
