An atmosphere of joy prevailed today in Gram Panchayat Gorta of the aspirational block Lakhanpur as beneficiaries formally moved into permanent houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. Chhattisgarh Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal attended the event as the chief guest, handed over the keys of their new homes to the beneficiary families, and extended his best wishes for a happy and secure domestic life. On this occasion, Minister Shri Agrawal performed the traditional rituals and ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the housewarming and symbolically presented the ‘Keys of Happiness’ to the beneficiaries.
Happiness and contentment were clearly visible on the faces of the beneficiary families as their dream of owning a permanent home became a reality. For families who had long awaited safe and permanent housing, this day marked the beginning of new hope, dignity, stability, and self-confidence.

During the housewarming event, Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal handed over the keys of their newly constructed permanent home to beneficiary Jugendra Rajwade and his wife, Phoolmati. As soon as the family received the keys to their new home, their faces lit up with joy. The beneficiary family expressed their gratitude to the government and the administration for providing them with a permanent home through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Similarly, Minister Shri Agrawal presented the ‘Keys of Happiness’ to other beneficiaries, including Jogendra Rajwade, Chhiharo, and Santosh, among others. Congratulating the beneficiaries on their new homes, he remarked that a permanent house is not merely a structure of four walls, but a strong foundation for a family’s secure future, dignity, and a stable home. Beneficiaries Encouraged to Expedite Completion of Unfinished Houses
During the event, Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal interacted with the villagers. He encouraged the beneficiaries to promptly complete the remaining houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Officials discussed the progress of house construction with the beneficiaries and issued instructions to ensure the completion of unfinished houses within the stipulated timeframe.
The event was attended by Janpad Panchayat Lakhanpur President Smt. Shashikala Singh, Vice-President Shri Kameshwar Rajwade, the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch and Panchs, Janpad Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Smt. Khushbu Shastri, along with officials and employees from various departments, ABP Fellows, and a large number of villagers.
- Momentum Gathers for the Pledge of ‘A Pucca House for Every Eligible Family’
The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is to provide permanent (pucca) and safe housing to eligible rural families who do not own a permanent home. Through this scheme, continuous efforts are being made to provide rural families with a dignified life, better housing facilities, and a secure future.
The Grih Pravesh (house-warming) ceremony held in Gorta village offered a tangible glimpse of this pledge in action. An atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy pervaded the entire village as beneficiary families moved into their new homes.
- Celebrations of Grih Pravesh Echo Across 5,596 Homes Simultaneously
Today, Grih Pravesh ceremonies were held for a total of 5,596 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (MMAY-G) in Surguja district. These included 4,967 houses under PMAY-G, 398 under the PM-JANMAN scheme, and 231 under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.
According to block-wise data, Grih Pravesh ceremonies were conducted for a total of 1,235 houses in Ambikapur block, comprising 1,170 houses under PMAY-G, 41 under the PM-JANMAN scheme, and 24 under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. Similarly, housewarming ceremonies were held for a total of 737 houses in Batauli, comprising 642 houses under PMAY-G, 81 under PM-JANMAN, and 14 under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme (Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin). In the Lakhanpur development block, housewarming events took place for 1,033 houses, including 978 under PMAY-G, 11 under PM-JANMAN, and 44 under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme. In Lundra, housewarming ceremonies were conducted for 685 houses, consisting of 450 under PMAY-G, 142 under PM-JANMAN, and 93 under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme.
Likewise, housewarming events were held for a total of 577 houses in the Mainpat development block; these included 469 houses under PMAY-G, 83 under PM-JANMAN, and 25 under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme. In Sitapur, housewarming ceremonies took place for 626 houses, comprising 593 under PMAY-G, 24 under PM-JANMAN, and 9 under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme. In the Udaipur development block, housewarming events were organized for 703 houses, including 665 under PMAY-G, 16 under PM-JANMAN, and 22 under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme.
The simultaneous housewarming events held across various development blocks of the district infused new hope and happiness into the lives of thousands of rural families. For families who had long aspired to own a permanent home, that dream has today…It became a reality right at their doorsteps. With a solid roof, secure walls, and the keys to their own homes, these families gained not just housing, but also the assurance of a dignified life and a secure future.
