- Laddu scheme also started in Anganwadis
A new and revolutionary initiative has been launched towards better health, nutrition, and regular education for children in Narayanpur, the gateway to Abujhmad in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. A free nutritious breakfast scheme was launched for over 13,000 students studying in the district’s primary and pre-secondary schools for the 2026-27 academic year. Along with this, a nutritious laddu distribution program was also launched in the district’s Anganwadi centers with the aim of completely freeing children from malnutrition. District-in-charge Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma and Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap officially launched this far-reaching initiative and personally served delicious and nutritious breakfast to the little children, encouraging them.

This ambitious initiative is being implemented in a total of 476 schools in the Narayanpur and Orchha (Abujhmad) development blocks, directly benefiting 13,155 schoolchildren. Under the scheme, each student will be provided with 150 grams of fresh and healthy breakfast daily. A balanced daily menu has been designed, focusing on children’s taste and nutrition, including protein-rich foods like poha-falidana, semolina upma, porridge, chickpeas, green gram, and peanuts. To strengthen the food preparation system, 676 cooks in the district are also being given an additional honorarium of ₹800 per month, boosting their morale.
This program will not only free children from the cycle of malnutrition, but will also prove to be a milestone in increasing school attendance, ensuring retention, and keeping children in mainstream education in remote and forested areas. Present on this solemn occasion were the Municipal Council President, Collector, Superintendent of Police, and local public representatives, along with a large number of teachers, villagers, and schoolchildren.
