- Chhattisgarh Government’s Employment and Skill Development Initiatives Creating Opportunities for Youth
Placing youth at the heart of development, the Chhattisgarh government led by Shri Vishnu Deo Sai is expanding opportunities in skill development, employment, higher education, entrepreneurship, and sports. Since assuming office nearly three years ago, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has launched numerous schemes and initiatives to empower the youth, making them employable and self-reliant. These efforts aim to transform the state’s youth population into a potent force for development by linking education and training with employment. The goal is not merely to provide jobs but to develop the youth into skilled, self-reliant, and innovative human resources prepared for the future economy.
- 18,330 Youths Trained So Far
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), approximately 18,330 youths across 26 districts of the state have received training, with an expenditure of around ₹29 crore. Plans are in place to train another 35,000 youths. The state government has also allocated ₹75 crore for youth skill development to ensure training programs align with the evolving needs of industries and the market.
- Quality Education, Skills, Opportunities, and a Transparent System for Youth
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated, “The youth are Chhattisgarh’s greatest strength and the hope for the future. We strive to ensure that every young person has access to quality education, skills, opportunities, and a transparent system. Youth empowerment lies at the core of our vision for a developed Chhattisgarh, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).”
- Focus on Transparent Recruitment
Alongside employment, transparency in the government recruitment process has been prioritized within the youth-centric agenda. The process for direct recruitment to approximately 9,000 vacant government posts is currently underway. Additionally, a new Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board has been constituted to make the recruitment process for Class-3 and Class-4 posts integrated, transparent, and time-bound.
- Government-provided free coaching for competitive exam preparation
The government has launched the ‘CG-ACE’ initiative to provide better opportunities for youth in competitive examinations. Under this scheme, free coaching is being arranged for exams such as NEET, CLAT, JEE, UPSC, CGPSC, Banking, SSC, and Railways. A provision of ₹33 crore has been made for this purpose.
- Expansion of higher education infrastructure
The Vishnu Deo Sai government has accorded significant importance to higher education within its youth development strategy. The budget for higher education has seen an increase of approximately 50 percent; for the year 2025-26, it has been raised to ₹1,822.75 crore. Five government colleges in the state—located in Jashpur, Raipur, Durg, Baloda Bazar, and Raigarh—are being developed as ‘Centres of Excellence.’ Similarly, ‘Chhattisgarh Institutes of Technology’ (CGIT) have been established in Kawardha, Jashpur, Raigarh, and Jagdalpur, modeled after prestigious institutions like the IITs. There are also plans to expand these institutes to Raipur, Bilaspur, and Durg in the near future.
