Chhattisgarh Excels in Geo-tagging under ‘Viksit Bharat-BhuGram’ Initiative

  • 99.34% of Assets Mapped Digitally under the ‘BhuGram’ Scheme
  • State Surpasses National Average Despite Challenging Conditions; Geo-tagging Completed for Over 11.82 Lakh Assets

Chhattisgarh has achieved a remarkable milestone at the national level in the ‘BhuGram’ (Stage-III) campaign, which aims to digitize and ensure transparent monitoring of rural assets under the ‘Viksit Bharat’ initiative. Despite challenges such as the rugged terrain of remote forest regions and limited network connectivity, the state has successfully completed the geo-tagging of 99.34% of its assets.

According to a report released by the Union Ministry of Rural Development (data as of September 24, 2026), geo-tagging has been completed for a record 1,182,480 out of the total 1,190,327 assets created in Chhattisgarh.State Surpasses National Average
Chhattisgarh’s performance in geo-tagging has been significantly better than the national average.

Nationally, geo-tagging has been completed for 30,149,345 out of the total 32,391,318 created assets, resulting in a national average of 93.08%. By achieving a figure of 99.34%, Chhattisgarh has solidified its position among the top-performing states in the country.

Goal Achieved by Overcoming Challenges
The task of geo-tagging was particularly complex in remote forest areas, hilly terrains, and regions with poor network connectivity, especially within the Bastar and Sarguja divisions. Nevertheless, this success was made possible through the coordinated efforts of field staff, Panchayat representatives, and technical teams. The GIS mapping conducted under ‘BhuGram’ is bolstering transparency and enabling real-time monitoring of rural development activities.
