My salutations to the soil of Bengal.
It is an honor for me to stand here today. This is the very place that, in the times to come, will evolve into an institution embodying health, hope, and human dignity.
I express my gratitude to the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Suvendu Adhikari ji, for gracing this gathering with his presence.
This morning, I visited Kalighat and offered prayers to the Mother. I sought strength from Her to lead with courage; willpower to dare to dream big; and the power of action to realize those dreams fearlessly. As I returned, one thought was uppermost in my mind: great opportunities demand great responsibility!
Bengal is currently passing through just such a phase. And at the forefront stands a leader entrusted with the responsibility of transforming these possibilities into progress—Shri Suvendu Adhikari ji!
Honorable Chief Minister, your story is that of a true son of the soil—a son in whom the people of this state repose great hope regarding jobs, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and new opportunities.
I have full confidence that under your leadership, Bengal will steer these emerging possibilities in a new direction. And at Adani, we are committed to contributing our share in advancing these possibilities.
My dear friends, this is the land that has, generation after generation, given birth to ideas, institutions, and individuals who have played a pivotal role in shaping India.
This is the land of Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, and Jagadish Chandra Bose. This is a land whose ideas, courage, science, and culture have helped shape the direction of our nation.
Its history is vast, and its talent is immense. Today, India looks towards the East once again with the hope that Bengal will revitalize its strength and embark on its next great chapter.
At Adani, we wish to contribute to crafting this new chapter alongside the people of Bengal. And today, that commitment begins with the Adani Arogya Mandir.
The Adani Arogya Mandir will be a world-class, non-profit medical institution featuring 2,000 beds. Of these, 1,000 beds will be dedicated to the economically weaker sections of society who are eligible under state and central health insurance schemes.
At the heart of this institution will be a medical college, supported by modern research and treatment facilities. This will lay a strong foundation of skilled healthcare professionals for Bengal.
We will invest over ₹4,000 crore in the hospital, medical college, and research facilities.
This institution is expected to generate more than 10,000 job opportunities within the state’s healthcare ecosystem.
However, building a strong Bengal should not be limited to a single institution. While healthcare services can improve lives, robust infrastructure can create new opportunities for millions.
And this is where our broader commitment to Bengal begins.
At the Adani Group, infrastructure lies at the core of our operations. Nowhere else in India does one find such a unique blend of geography, talent, and economic potential as in Bengal. It serves as a vital maritime and logistics hub, connecting India’s vast industrial heartland and the Northeast to the Bay of Bengal. Furthermore, Bengal is strategically positioned to connect via maritime trade routes to Southeast Asia and beyond.
This gives Bengal a distinct advantage that few other regions can match. Bengal has the potential not only to serve as a gateway but also to emerge as one of Asia’s largest integrated industrial and economic hubs.
As this entire ecosystem interconnects and expands, a significant transformation unfolds in and around Bengal. Stronger ports lead to improved logistics. Enhanced logistics attract industries. Industries boost manufacturing. Manufacturing requires energy. Energy strengthens digital infrastructure, and digital infrastructure attracts the new industries of the future.
And most importantly, this leads to a rapid increase in employment opportunities.
With this conviction, we aim to invest over ₹1 lakh crore in Bengal by 2035. This investment will span diverse sectors such as ports, logistics, power generation, transmission and distribution, roads, bridges and ropeways, green cement, and hyperscale data centers.
However, progress cannot be measured solely by the length of roads, power generation capacity, or investment figures. A society must also care for its people and safeguard the culture, heritage, and institutions that define its identity.
