As part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026’ (Service Pledge Campaign) running from September 17 to October 17, the Raipur Municipal Corporation’s Environment and Horticulture Department—in collaboration with all 10 zones—conducted a massive plantation drive today. By planting over 3,500 shade-providing saplings at the Gandhi Udyan complex and designated sites across the zones, the initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation for the public good and spread a positive message about a clean environment to the citizens of the capital city.

Minal Chaubey, and in the presence of officials including Head of Environment & Horticulture Department Shri Bholaram Sahu, Municipal Commissioner Shri Sambit Mishra, Head of Culture Department Shri Amar Gidwani, MIC members Shri Nandkishore Sahu and Smt. Sanjana Hiyal, Zone Chairpersons (Shri Gajju Sahu – Zone 1, Shri Badri Prasad Gupta – Zone 6, Shri Sachin B. Meghani – Zone 10), Councilors Shri Ravi Sonkar and Shri Rajesh Kumar Dewangan, Additional Commissioners Shri Lokeshwar Sahu and Shri Vinod Pandey,
Deputy Commissioner (Horticulture) Smt. Jagriti Sahu, Zone 4 Commissioner Dr. Divya Chandravanshi, Executive Engineer Shri Gajaram Kanwar, Sub-Engineer Ms. Ruchika Mishra, and other concerned corporation officials and staff, saplings of shady species such as Maulsari, Swarna Champa, Amaltas, and Neem were systematically planted.
Mayor Smt. Minal Chaubey extended her heartfelt greetings to all citizens on the occasion of the Anant Chaturdashi festival and the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the great visionary and proponent of the philosophy of ‘Integral Humanism’ (Ekatma Manavvad).
She made a humble appeal to all citizens to pledge—in the interest of society and environmental conservation—to make Raipur a clean, beautiful, and green capital by planting the maximum number of saplings in safe locations in a systematic manner, and to nurture every planted sapling with the same care one would give to one’s own children until it grows into a full-fledged tree.
