Amidst the flood situation in the Sariya region of the Raigarh Assembly constituency caused by the rising water level of the Mahanadi River, Finance Minister and Raigarh MLA Shri O.P. Choudhary visited the affected villagers today. Shri Choudhary arrived at the relief camp set up at the Girls’ School in Sariya, where he met the villagers staying there and inquired about their well-being.
At the relief camp, Shri Choudhary sat among women, the elderly, children, and the youth, engaging in direct conversation with them. He gathered information regarding the difficulties caused by the floods and the specific needs of the families. Finding their elected representative amidst them during these trying times, the affected villagers openly shared their concerns and experiences.
Shri Choudhary stated that people have had to leave their homes and move to relief camps due to the floods. While this is undoubtedly a difficult time for the affected families, he assured them that they should not feel alone; the government and administration stand with them with the utmost sensitivity. Ensuring the safety of the affected people and providing them with all necessary assistance is the top priority.
He reviewed the arrangements at the relief camp—including food, clean drinking water, healthcare facilities, medicines, and sanitation—and instructed officials to ensure that no one staying there faces any inconvenience. He gave specific instructions to attend to the needs of children, the elderly, and women with sensitivity.
Shri Choudhary also directed officials to continuously monitor the flood situation and the water level of the Mahanadi River, and to immediately relocate people from affected areas to safe locations if the need arises. He directed the administration to act with utmost promptness and sensitivity during this challenging time and to ensure that necessary assistance reaches every affected family.
It is noteworthy that, in view of the rising water level of the Mahanadi River, the administration is maintaining constant surveillance in the riverbank areas of Raigarh district; affected villagers are being moved to safe locations and relief camps, and essential amenities are being provided to them.
