- Coffee Table Book Based on the Archaeological Heritage of Dhanpur Unveiled
- District’s Rich Natural, Cultural, and Historical Heritage Gains New Recognition
The Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district has achieved a significant milestone in the tourism sector. The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board honored the GPM district with the ‘Best District Promotion Award’ in recognition of its outstanding efforts to promote tourism and effectively showcase its rich natural, historical, archaeological, and cultural heritage to the nation and the world.
This prestigious honor was conferred upon the district during the ‘Central India Connect Marketplace’ event, organized jointly by the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and the ‘Chhattisgarh Travel Trade Association’ (CGTTA) in the capital, Raipur, on September 27—World Tourism Day. On this occasion, an attractive coffee table book centered on ‘Dhanpur’—a site of significant archaeological and cultural heritage within the district—was also unveiled.
The coffee table book was launched by Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Shri Nilu Sharma, Tourism Department Secretary Dr. S. Bharathidasan, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Managing Director Shri Saumil Ranjan Chaubey, GPM Collector Shri Vijay Dayaram K., and Zila Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Shri Mukesh Rawte.
Dedicated to the archaeological and cultural features of Dhanpur, this coffee table book presents the region’s historical significance, archaeological heritage, and tourism potential in an engaging and impactful manner. This initiative will not only establish a new identity for Dhanpur on the state and national tourism map but also help generate tourist interest in other tourism and cultural heritage sites across the GPM district.
It is noteworthy that the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district is rich in natural beauty as well as archaeological, religious, and cultural heritage. The district administration is making continuous efforts to identify, conserve, and promote tourist sites in the district and to develop its tourism potential. The ‘Best District Promotion Award’ serves as significant recognition of these efforts. This honor will infuse new energy into the initiatives aimed at developing GPM into a prominent tourism destination.
