- South East Central Railway is conducting an ongoing campaign to check drinking water quality to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water.
South East Central Railway is conducting regular and intensive monitoring of drinking water quality at stations with the aim of providing clean, safe, and high-quality drinking water to passengers. As part of this initiative, a special drinking water quality inspection campaign was carried out today, 05 October 2026, at Raipur Railway Station by a Health Department team led by Principal Chief Medical Director Shri Devesh Kumar.

During the campaign, various drinking water points at Raipur Railway Station were inspected, and the quality of the water was tested. Physical tests, as well as checks for residual chlorine and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), were conducted; additionally, water samples were collected for bacteriological testing where necessary.
During the inspection, a physical test and checks for residual chlorine and TDS were performed on the water from the ‘Basanti Devi Jal Seva Kendra’ located on Platform No. 5. The water sample was found to comply with prescribed water quality standards. It is noteworthy that the water from this specific service center had previously been tested on 29.09.2026 and 01.10.2026, with results also confirming compliance with prescribed standards.

Similarly, water from Tap No. 45 on Platform No. 5 was tested and found to meet the prescribed quality standards. Furthermore, the quality of drinking water from the water cooler located at the Durg end of Platform No. 1 was checked. Additionally, a water sample was collected for bacteriological testing from the water vending machine located on Platform No. 1. During the campaign, the scope of inspection extended beyond merely checking drinking water quality; it also involved a meticulous assessment of the cleanliness of drinking water points, water distribution systems, water availability, equipment maintenance, and essential passenger amenities. A Health Department team conducted on-site inspections of various aspects of the drinking water system and identified necessary corrective measures.
Led by the Principal Chief Medical Director, the campaign included issuing specific directives to relevant officials and staff regarding the regular monitoring of water systems, maintenance of hygiene, adherence to prescribed water quality standards, and the provision of safe, high-quality drinking water to passengers.

South East Central Railway accords top priority to passenger health, safety, and convenience, ensuring continuous monitoring of drinking water quality at stations. Through periodic special inspection drives at various stations, the railway reviews not only water quality but also the cleanliness and maintenance of water points and other passenger amenities.
South East Central Railway is committed to providing passengers with superior basic amenities—including clean, safe, and high-quality drinking water—throughout their journeys.
