A New Beginning Through ‘Chirayu’ – A Path Forward for Little Surya’s Deformed Feet

  • Now, a 4-year-old boy runs with newfound confidence
  • The vigilance of an Anganwadi worker and the coordination of the ‘Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram’ (RBSK) have transformed Surya’s life

A child whose early steps were overshadowed by hardship—longing to walk, move about, and run—is now, at four years old, running and playing joyfully alongside his peers. The government’s compassionate healthcare services, the ‘Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram’ (known as the ‘Chirayu’ scheme), and the alertness of an Anganwadi worker have given this young boy a new lease on life.

  • Innocence Overshadowed by Concern

Born into an ordinary family in Sarangarh, Surya was affected from birth by a condition known as ‘clubfoot’—a congenital deformity. Because his feet were deformed, he could not even stand properly. As Surya grew older, his parents’ anxiety regarding his future deepened. Faced with financial constraints and a lack of proper guidance, the family felt helpless.

  • An Anganwadi Worker as a Guardian Angel; The ‘Chirayu’ Team Steps In

A turning point arrived in young Surya’s life when Mrs. Ramadhi Chauhan, an alert Anganwadi worker at the local center, noticed his condition. Without delay, she informed the ‘Chirayu’ team (Sarangarh) of the ‘Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram’.

Upon receiving the information, the ‘Chirayu’ team conducted a comprehensive health assessment of Surya and referred him to the District Hospital in Raigarh for high-quality, free-of-cost medical treatment. There, under the supervision of specialist doctors, a systematic and regular treatment plan was initiated, involving the application of casts, essential physiotherapy, and other necessary medical procedures. Hard Work Bears Fruit: Legs Straightened, Smiles Return

As a result of consistent treatment and proper care, the deformity in Surya’s legs has been completely corrected. A child who once struggled to take even a few steps can now play, run, and live his childhood independently, without any support. Seeing their beloved child laughing and playing just like any other child brought tears of joy to his parents’ eyes. The true objective of the government’s public welfare schemes is to ensure that healthcare services reach the most vulnerable and underserved individuals. The transformation in young Surya’s life, brought about through the ‘Chirayu’ scheme, is a testament to the government’s commitment.

  • A Story of Service—A Story of Transformation

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government’s ‘Chirayu’ scheme is proving to be a boon for lakhs of children across the state. By visiting Anganwadi centers and schools, the initiative identifies congenital diseases and health deficiencies in children, ensuring they receive timely, free-of-cost treatment.

The efforts of the Anganwadi workers and the ‘Chirayu’ team have been widely praised following the successful treatment of Surya. His radiant, smiling face and active, running steps serve as living proof that the right intervention at the right time can completely transform a person’s life.
