He also mentioned the recent integration of Raoghat in Chhattisgarh and Tanda Road in Madhya Pradesh into the rail network.
The commencement of rail operations on the Devendranagar-Satna and Rewa-Churhat sections, as part of the Lalitpur-Singrauli rail project, will further strengthen connectivity in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions. He noted that improved rail connectivity would accelerate industrial development and expand economic activities in Madhya Pradesh.

The Railway Minister stated that railway projects worth approximately ₹1 lakh crore are currently underway in Madhya Pradesh. These include the construction of new rail lines, doubling of tracks, the addition of third and fourth lines, and gauge conversion projects. Key sections covered under these initiatives include Lalitpur-Singrauli, Satna-Rewa, Katni-Singrauli, Jabalpur-Gondia, Bina-Bhopal-Itarsi, Itarsi-Nagpur, Ratlam-Khandwa, Indore-Budhni, Indore-Dahod, and Indore-Manmad.
He added that the completion of these projects would pave the way for the introduction of new rail services in the state. In the coming years, it will be possible to launch over 100 long-distance trains, as well as 50 to 60 short-distance services, such as MEMU and Intercity trains.
Regarding station redevelopment, Shri Vaishnaw mentioned that Khajuraho station is being developed with an architectural design that reflects the culture and heritage of Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, redevelopment work is being carried out at several other stations, including Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Beohari, Nainpur, Narmadapuram, Chhatarpur, Orchha, Shivpuri, Harpalpur, Chhindwara, and Seoni. He described this as a ‘Diwali gift’ for the people of the region.
Dr. Yadav noted that the 541-kilometer-long Lalitpur-Singrauli railway project would strengthen connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, benefiting the regions of Lalitpur, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi, and Singrauli.
The Chief Minister highlighted that improved rail connectivity would provide farmers with access to larger markets, facilitate the transport of goods for industries, create opportunities for youth and students, and enhance access to healthcare services and tourism. He added that this connectivity would boost economic activity in the mineral-rich Bundelkhand region, specifically benefiting the diamond trade in Panna. He also commended the various railway projects currently underway in Madhya Pradesh, including the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga-Khandwa rail line.
- The Rewa-Churhat rail line will benefit Sidhi district.
The construction of the new, approximately 65-kilometer-long rail line from Rewa to Churhat…It has been completed at a cost of ₹1,070 crore. With the completion of approximately 22.5 kilometers of rail line between Rampur Naikin and Churhat, this project has reached its conclusion. The establishment of rail connectivity up to Churhat has provided the citizens of Sidhi district with an opportunity to connect to the nation’s rail network.
This rail line serves not only as a new mode of transport for the region but also as a gateway to new development opportunities. It will facilitate access for students to educational institutions, for patients to better medical facilities, and for the youth and working professionals to employment and business prospects. Given the availability of limestone and other minerals in the region, along with the potential for the cement industry, this rail link is expected to boost industrial activities and freight transportation.
- Satna-Devendranagar Rail Line to Boost Industrial and Rural Economy
A new rail line, spanning approximately 53 kilometers from Satna to Devendranagar, has been constructed at a cost of about ₹873 crore. The project reached completion with the final 8-kilometer stretch between Phulwari and Devendranagar being finished.
Satna and its surrounding areas host a significant number of industries based on limestone, cement, and other minerals. Improved rail connectivity will facilitate the transportation of cement, clinker, and other goods. This will enhance industrial logistics, reduce reliance on road-based freight transport, and create greater potential for the future expansion of industrial activities.
The rail link will also provide farmers and rural traders in the Devendranagar, Nagod, and Panna regions with better access to larger markets. Rail connectivity will help in providing a wider market reach for agricultural produce, local products, and handicrafts. Furthermore, it is expected to generate new employment opportunities in sectors such as warehousing, transportation, trade, and other allied activities. New Passenger Rail Service to Benefit Students, Patients, and Daily Commuters
The launch of the new passenger rail service between Devendranagar and Churhat will provide travelers in these regions with improved rail connectivity via Satna and Rewa. This will offer a convenient mode of travel for students, working professionals, traders, patients, farmers, and other daily commuters.
Enhanced rail connectivity will also create opportunities to transport local agricultural produce, stone crafts, handicrafts, and other goods to larger markets. This is expected to provide a boost to local trade, transport services, food services, and other small-scale businesses.
- Tourism to Receive a Boost; Local Employment Opportunities to Increase
The Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions are renowned for their natural beauty, historical heritage, and sites of cultural significance. Improved rail connectivity will facilitate easier access to tourist destinations such as Panna, Khajuraho, Rewa, and their surrounding areas.
Key tourist attractions in the region include the White Tiger Safari at Mukundpur, the Chachai and Bahuti waterfalls, Rewa Fort, and Govindgarh. Better rail links are expected to make travel to these locations more convenient, thereby fostering regional tourism. An increase in tourist footfall is also likely to benefit the hospitality sector, local transport services, tour guides, the handicraft industry, and various small businesses.
