Madhya Pradesh will get 800 MW of affordable electricity from the Lara project.

  • PPA signed between NTPC and MPPMCL

The Energy Department has taken an important step towards meeting the future energy needs of Madhya Pradesh and providing cheap and uninterrupted electricity to the people of the state. In the presence of Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar and Principal Secretary Energy Shri Manish Singh, a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was executed between Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) and NTPC for purchasing power from NTPC’s Lara Stage-III (2×800 MW) project located in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.

Under this contract, Madhya Pradesh will receive 800 MW of electricity from the Lara project. By 2031-32, Madhya Pradesh will begin receiving reliable electricity from this plant at reasonable rates.

  • Electricity will be available at affordable rates

According to the contract, the Lara-III project will provide Madhya Pradesh with electricity at an estimated rate of Rs 4.97 per unit. Energy Minister Shri Tomar expressed his pleasure at this agreement, stating that the state government is committed to providing quality and affordable electricity to every consumer in the state. This agreement will prove to be a milestone in meeting the growing demand of the state’s agriculture, industry, and domestic sectors in the future.

  • Fuel security and lower costs from captive mines

The Lara project’s unique feature is its proximity to a coal mine and its coal is sourced from NTPC’s own captive mine. Direct and secure coal availability will save transportation costs, ensuring a completely reliable and cost-effective power supply.

Secretary Energy Shri Vishesh Gadpale, CGM (Commercial) Shri A.S. Pandey from NTPC Delhi, GM Shri Sandesh Jaiswal, AGM (Commercial) Shri Bhupesh Kumar from Raipur and CGM (Commercial) Shri R.B. Saxena from MPPMCL were specially present in the program.
